Control developer Remedy Entertainment is celebrating the 20th anniversary of arguably the studio’s most famous game, 2001’s noir shooter Max Payne.

A new video has both the voice and original face of Max—James McCaffrey and writer Sam Lake, respectively—wishing Max a happy birthday. Lake thanks the original team, although admits not many of them are still at the Finnish studio. He also thanks the teams at 3D Realms, Rockstar (who currently own the rights to the series) and of course, the fans.  Though sadly there’s no news of a new adventure for the grizzled detective in the video, it’s worth sticking around for a fantastic little tribute as Lake dons the leather jacket one more time.

Max Payne released in 2001 for PC before it eventually found its way to PlayStation 2 and the original Xbox a couple of years later. Remedy would then release follow up Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne on all three formats in 2003 before Rockstar took over the franchise and development duties for Max Payne 3 in 2012.

In lieu of a new Max Payne, Remedy have a few projects in the works in the future keeping them busy. A “bigger budget” Control follow up has been confirmed, while multiplayer spin-off Condor is in production for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC.
