The MediEvil remake has been hotly anticipated and a link to the game’s demo was listed on the Japanese PlayStation store before being removed shortly after, leaving fans disappointed to have missed it. Twitter user, Zibel, posted the news earlier today. The demo includes Dan’s Crypt and The Graveyard which are exactly the same levels that the games original demo included. It has been rumored that the demo release was intended for Sony’s upcoming State of Play.

MediEvil was first released on October 1999 and followed the eerie quest of Sir Daniel Fortesque, a skeleton who has risen from the dead, to defeat the evil sorcerer Zarok. The original was filled with laughs, unique music and creepy adventure. The remake looks to recreate this magic while adding the visual and audio standards that contemporary players are accustomed to. Players can look forward to fighting off the evil dead in Tim Burton-esque levels on October 25th.

The game is heavily influenced by Halloween themes and the release date means players can get in the scary mood just in time. It will be interesting to see the levels recreated and the cuboids refined. The screenshots of the MediEvil remake compare incredibly well to the original and look like an impressive revamp of the old style. Players will hope the game’s controls, which were a point of criticism in the original, have hopefully been rectified when Sir Dan awakes once more to save Gallowmere.

The series had laid dormant for 14 years and when it was announced the remake was coming back with 4k visuals it was a welcome surprise for many fans. Many remember the title with a healthy dose of nostalgia. The release date trailer only increased anticipation as the game looked fantastic. The remake is also set to tread the same narrative as the original.

A whole host of exciting games look set to be announced at Sony’s State of Play 2019. With new games such as Last of US 2, Ghost of Tsushima and a new Batman game to be revealed in more detail, MediEvil is set to warm the hearts of gamers who want to replay a classic. Players can relish the opportunity to get Sir Dan to the Hall of Heroes and become the Hero of Gallowmere once more.

MediEvil will launch on October 25, exclusively for the PS4.
