Side-scrolling blaster Mega Man 11 is due out on PlayStation 4, PC, Switch, and Xbox One on October 2, Capcom has announced.
Mega Man 11 marks the Blue Bomber’s first all-new title in eight years, though he’s back with a few new tricks up his sleeves. Chiefly, Mega Man comes packing a new Double Gear system, allowing players to equip extra abilities in the shape of the Speed Gear and Power Gear.
While these powers can be activated at any time, use them too much and you’ll overheat the poor chap, resulting in a cooldown period.
Of course, this is a Mega Man game, so expect a bunch of new Robot Masters (eight in total) to duke it out with.
Mega Man 11’s gameplay pretty much adheres to the classic series paradigm we’ve seen over the decades, which is no bad thing. However, Capcom’s given the boot to the traditional pixel-based art design, instead plumping for stylish, hand-painted backdrops and 3D character models. It looks pretty nice, too.
The game will be available as both a digital download and at brick-and-mortar retailers, though Switch owners can pony up the cash for an amiibo Edition, which features the game, stickers, an adhesive patch, a ‘Stage Select’ microfibre cloth, and of course the amiibo itself.
