3DS title Kaio: King of Pirates, a game inspired by Romance of the Three Kingdoms and featuring anthropomorphic pirate animals, has been cancelled, publisher Marvelous has announced.
The game was first announced in 2012 to be in development at Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune’s comcept studio, but suffered a string of delays leading to its eventual cancellation.
Inafune had planned to create a trilogy, but all this has been scrapped because of what is described as sudden changes to the markerplace.
Marvelous says it has taken a $3.8 million hit on the project.
