Metal Gear Solid 5 The Phantom Pain Ships 5 Million Units

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain shipped 5 million units during its first month on sale, Konami has announced. The figure accounts for both physical copies shipped into retailers and digital downloads sold by September 30, 2015.

The sales helped Konami’s Digital Entertainment division post a 17.5% year-in-year increase in revenue for the first half of the financial year, rising from 44bn Yen in the first half of FY15 to 51.7bn Yen in the first half of FY16.

The firm expects to post revenues of 106.0bn in Digital Entertainment by the end of March 2016.

Sales of Konami’s other major release, PES 2016, however, were not disclosed.
