In a slightly unexpected move, Konami has today updated 2015’s superb Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain with a new patch to take advantage of the PS4 Pro.

As per the Metal Gear Official Twitter account, the patch promises a ‘more stable framerate’ and allows you to play the game at a higher resolution, presuming you have a PS4 Pro and a 4K screen.

The announcement also states that you’ll see improved performance even with a standard 1080p screen, and those with the Definitive Edition of the game will also see improvements to the performance of Ground Zeroes.

No word yet if this update will also come across to the Xbox One X when that releases, but it’s worth noting that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is still available to download for free as part of a PlayStation Plus subscription for at least the rest of today.

If you have a PS4 Pro and 4K screen, you can now enjoy #MGSVTPP at a higher resolution and a more stable frame rate. pic.twitter.com/Edu15ja3jr
