Metro Exodus, the third entry in the Metro series, was one of the earliest hits of 2019 and has one more piece of story content to go before developer 4A Games bookends the expansions for Metro Exodus.
Specifically, the game will be receiving its last bit of narrative-focused content in February, as implied by the expansion pass’ page on the Epic Games Store.
Called Sam’s Story, the final DLC tells the story of an American marine who was stationed at a Russian embassy before the bombs dropped. He dreams of returning to the U.S. to reunite with his family. However, in order to do so, Sam will need to trek the post-apocalyptic wasteland of Vladivostok in Russia. Likely, his journey will entail the Metro gameplay many fans have come to love over the years.
According to the game’s official Twitter page, Metro Exodus’ Sam’s Story DLC will be releasing February 11, 2020.
Overall, Sam’s Story sounds like a very interesting narrative from 4A Games. Traditionally, players are put in the boots of Russian characters traversing the nuclear landscape of their home country. However, in this case, players will be less concerned with the destruction of their homeland and more concerned about finding a way back home.
The expansion that came before Sam’s Story was called The Two Colonels. With the inclusion of a flamethrower, the expansion offered the tale of a colonel who follows the literal path of another colonel. The latter colonel had been attached to his son amidst the despair spread by a dangerous slime and mutants.
Both DLC downloads can be purchased as a bundle via the Expansion Pass for $24.99. Alternatively, they can also be purchased separately. The Two Colonels can be bought and downloaded for $7.99. Sam’s Story’s price has yet to be determined.
The Expansion Pass is also included with Metro Exodus Gold Edition, which can be purchased for $64.98.
Hopefully, the final DLC will maintain the narrative quality established by the previous Metro games.
