Post-apocalyptic horror sequel Metro Exodus has been delayed until the first quarter of 2019, publisher THQ Nordic has announced.

This means that the game won’t be in stores until at least January next year, and may not turn up until March at the latest. Metro Exodus was originally slated to appear in stores by the end of 2018.

THQ didn’t give any reason for the delay, although presumably as it’s only been punted back a few months it’s nothing too seriously. Probably needs a bit of extra spit and polish, innit.

Metro Exodus is set in 2036 following a devastating nuclear war, and picks up following the events of the Redemption ending from the previous game. Players once again assume command of 26-year-old Artyom, who teams up with the Spartan Rangers to escape Moscow and head off to the far east.

This time around players can look forward to a more expansive game world, with Deep Silver championing Exodus as a ‘sandbox survival experience.’ Sounds like a winner to us.

Metro Exodus is due out on PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One in Q1 2019.
