Grapple Items in games serve as a very useful tool in traversing the area. This is also true for Platformers as mobility is a key factor. Metroid Dread is an action-packed adventure platformer that employs the grappling mechanic in the form of the Grapple Beam. The Grapple Beam has various uses which will help Samus in her adventures. Today I will show you how to get the Grapple Beam in Metroid Dread.

How to get the Grapple Beam in Metroid Dread

Grapple Beam is an attachment to Samus’s Arm Cannon that can be used to traverse around walls and swing to other platforms. The Grapple Beam is an unlockable item located in Artaria’s Item Room. To get there, you will need to first be in Dairon.

Through the natural progression of the game, you will reach Dairon. From there you will need to find the Elevator that goes to Artaria. The Elevator Room in Dairon is at the Bottom-Right of the map. Now once you have reached Artaria, you will have to just run towards the Right and then Down. Following that Path you will enter a room with a dead-end, that’s the Artaria Item Room. In that room, you will see a Statue holding a Gold Orb. Destroying said orb will reveal the Grapple Beam Upgrade. Just go to it and you will be able to collect it.

How to use it?

Now that you have collected the Grapple Beam, you will be able to latch yourself on to Blue Grapple Points. By holding down the ZR and then pressing Y, you will fire the Grapple Beam. Once you fire the beam to an object, tilting the L Stick to the other direction will pull Grapple Beam Blocks, Grapple Beam Boxes, Grapple Beam Doors. If you fire the Grapple Beam towards a Grapple Swing Point will allow Samus to swing between platforms. Also, if the Grapple Beam is fired onto a magnetic surface will pull her to that surface.
