Nintendo has dropped a new overview trailer for Samus Aran’s latest upcoming adventure Metroid Dread, which arrives next month.

The intergalactic bounty hunter will have her work cut out for her, as she explores the mysterious planet of ZDR. After she’s attacked and left for dead by a mysterious warrior, it seems the series’ mysterious Chozo race that once raised her have turned from friend to foe.

We get a little bit more backstory on the Chozo in the game’s latest Dread Report. A highly intelligent and technologically advanced species, their purpose is to spread peace through the galaxy. However, sometime before the events of the entire series, the once-mighty civilisation collapsed and only ruins have remained.

Samus and the Chozo have many links through the series, even being responsible for some of her suit technology. However, these Chozo—which you’ll meet over the course of the game—appear to be extremely hostile. They’re also now seemingly employing deadly robots, that you’ll also have to deal with on your adventure. As to why the once friendly race is now your foe, you’ll have to play the game to find out.

Metroid Dread is heading for the Nintendo Switch on October 8, 2021. Check out the new Metroid Dread overview trailer for yourself down below.
