Bandai Namco is beavering away on the highly anticipated Metroid Prime 4 for Nintendo Switch, sources close to Eurogamer have said.
According to the report, Bamco’s Singapore Studio has been tasked with developing the sequel, which is the first entry in the critically acclaimed Prime series in over ten years. Nintendo is also collaborating on the project, which was announced at E3 last year with a brief teaser.
At the time Ninty refused to comment on who was working on the game, only saying that Metroid Prime creator Rare Studios was not involved in any capacity. Earlier this week however, fans began stapling together various hints from job descriptions on LinkedIn regarding the mystery developer, which quickly gathered pace on Resetera.
In particular, staff at Bandai Namco Studios Singapore let slip they are working on a ‘secret’ game, an ‘ambitious AAA title,’ and a ‘very interesting unannounced project.’ Apparently, we can expect ‘more exciting details’ to be revealed ‘soon (or later)!’
Nintendo has unsurprisingly not commented on the rumour, although hopefully we’ll get an official word from them soon enough. Still, the prospect of Bamco getting all chummy with Ninty isn’t exactly a shocker; they previously developed Super Smash Bros. Wii U and 3DS as well as Pokken Tournament Deluxe for Switch.
Metroid Prime 4 has not yet been dated although this shouldn’t come as a surprise as it’s still very early in development.
