Microsoft announces major changes to the way that its Xbox Game Pass Quests work. The Quests allows Xbox Game Pass subscribers to get Microsoft Reward points for playing games and completing Achievements, but some had complained that they don’t provide much variety.
In a post on the Xbox Wire, Microsoft confirmed that a huge update to Xbox Game Pass is now available. Beginning today, there will be many more quests for subscribers to complete and Microsoft says that there are “around 90” available daily, weekly, and monthly to all subscribers. There are also some exclusive weekly and monthly quests for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers but Microsoft hasn’t said how many.
Microsoft says that Xbox Game Pass Quests are to “help you discover and try new games and be rewarded for playing the Xbox Game Pass games you love.” New Xbox Game Pass games are added each month, from major releases to smaller indie titles and some subscribers may find it difficult to choose which ones to play. With the new quest system, “you can now play any Xbox Game Pass console game to earn points.” There will be some quests just for one game but it seems like most of them will be available for all.
Some of the quests that Microsoft revealed include a daily quest that offers 15 points for playing any Xbox Game Pass console game, a weekly quest that offers 50 points for earning an achievement by playing any Xbox Game Pass Console game, and a monthly quest for stealing 35 cars in Grand Theft Auto V. These quests will be available until March 2, so like the Xbox Game Pass games that are added and removed each month, the list of quests will also change.
The new quest system is great for those who enjoy getting Microsoft Rewards and spending them to enter competitions to win free Xbox One X consoles and to get Xbox Game Pass Ultimate free. However, there are some things that Microsoft has left unclear. One is how these changes will affect Xbox Game Pass for PC. Subscribers to Xbox Game Pass for PC get different games each month and games like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and GTA V are only available to subscribers on the Xbox One console. Many would be upset if Microsoft also left PC subscribers out of the new quest system, and they will be looking for the company to offer more information about this.
