It’s being reported that Microsoft are offering PlayStation the ability to put Call of Duty games such as Modern Warfare 2 on PS Plus, should the former’s ongoing deal with publisher Activision Blizzard go ahead.

According to Bloomberg, the concession is the latest offering from Microsoft to try and allay fears that the shooter series could be taken away from PlayStation, which many have claimed could “suppress competitors to its Xbox gaming consoles.”

The move comes in addition to previous promises that Microsoft intends to bring the Call of Duty series to Nintendo, and its recent pledge to keep the series on PlayStation for at least ten years.

Despite these assurances, the FTC announced last week it was filing an official complaint to block the $68.7 billion USD deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard.

It claimed that “Microsoft has already shown that it can and will withhold content from its gaming rivals” in its announcement. Of course, this new move is hoping to go some way to dispute that claim.

It’s worth noting of course, that Microsoft has also previously pledged that it would bring the Call of Duty series to Xbox Game Pass, should the deal go through.

It now seems that it won’t be the only subscription service to get the game, should the plans go ahead. However, there’s still the matter of the deal going through successfully first.

We’ll have to see how the situation continues to develop, although Activision and Microsoft are currently standing firm that they believe that the deal will go ahead as planned.
