This Killjoys review contains spoilers. Killjoys Season 5 Episode 9 “Hello, sister. It’s been awhile.” With only two episodes remaining in the series’ run, Killjoys finds itself in the complex position of attempting to address as many open story threads as possible heading into next week’s finale. Of course, they won’t all receive attention, but the stirring penultimate “Terraformance Anxiety” puts the narrative on an intriguing path that suggests a satisfying conclusion to the on-going escapades of Team Awesome Force....

Three more classic games are now available for Nintendo Switch Online. Fighter’s History, Kirby’s Avalanche, and Daiva Story 6: Imperial of Nirsartia have just been added to the service’s NES and SNES library of games. Fighter’s History was originally an arcade game that was released on the SNES in 1994. It’s a fighting game with many similarities to Street Fighter II. Kirby’s Avalanche (known as Kirby’s Ghost Trap in Europe) was originally released on the SNES in 1995....

Feral Interactive has quietly revealed the Nintendo Switch’s ports for both Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light and its sequel Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris will now be released in 2023. These ports were previously announced to be coming to Nintendo’s hybrid console back in October 2021 as part of the series’ 25th anniversary. However, since then, things have been quite quiet on this particular Lara Croft front....

Developer Eleventh Hour Games have been busy creating what they hope will be the next great ARPG. Called Last Epoch, it was a successful Kickstarter campaign where they successfully raised $250K and it’s been in development since April 2017. Throughout the game’s development, Eleventh Hour has been working closely with their community and released numerous demo versions of the game. Now Eleventh Hour is gearing up for their full beta test which will launch on 30 April....

A new blog post has laid out all of the upcoming accessibility features for The Last of Us Part 1 on the PlayStation 5. This includes a new feature that will enable players to play dialogue through the console’s DualSense controller as haptic feedback. This new feature, which started off as a prototype, means that “a deaf player can feel the way a line is delivered, can feel the emphasis, along with the subtitles to give some sense of how that line is delivered,” explained game director Matthew Gallant....

The “Poke-Lid” enameled manhole designs continue to be popular in Japan, as three more have just been installed in Utsunomiya City in Tochigi prefecture. This is the first time that the Tochigi prefecture will be getting the Pokemon-themed manholes. This time, the manholes feature a variety of different Electric-type Pokemon, such as the legendary Thundurus and more. There are also a few Pokemon included that aren’t Electric-type. The Pokemon that are picked for the manhole designs represent the charm of the region in which they are located....

Although Little Town Hero launched late last year on digital stores, the RPG — created by Pokémon developer Game Freak — will be getting a physical version on various platforms come Spring 2020. This new version will include some collectible items that might entice those who have not yet purchased Game Freak’s non-Pokémon endeavor to do so in April. At PAX South 2020, it was announced by publisher NIS America that the physical edition would be hitting the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on April 23rd, 2020....

One of my great childhood milestones was learning the level-select cheat for Sonic 2. It transformed the game from a left-to-right narrative of mounting industrial peril into an album of killer vibes. No longer would I have to sweat through Chemical Plant Zone before tasting the glories of Casino Night. No longer would I have to brave all three acts of Metropolis before taking in the view from Sky Fortress. Instead, I could put together my own playlist, dive into zones as the mood took me, and grapple a little with the effects of running order on my experience of the game....

The Lost Ark Powerpass system is developer Smilegate’s way of letting you experiment with other classes. Lost Ark locks you to your starting class throughout your time in Arkesia, but the Powerpass lets you quickly raise an alt character to your main character’s level for absolutely nothing - so long as you meet the requirements. These passes are limited, though for a price, Knowledge Transfer lets you do mostly the same thing....

Ubisoft briefly published a 20th October release date for its promising-looking Nintendo Switch sequel Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. The company has yet to officially trumpet the date, but it was live for a while on Ubisoft’s store (thanks, Gematsu) ahead of today’s Nintendo Direct, which is scheduled for 2pm UK time. Today’s announcement stream is set to feature third-party games for Nintendo Switch - of which Sparks of Hope is a prime example....

Mario Kart Tour has somehow managed to cram loot boxes into the Mario Kart series and the drop rates for rare characters and items have been revealed. It should come as no surprise that the drop rates for some of the items are as low as .3%. Mario Kart Tour was released on mobile phones today, and it offers a simplified version of the Mario Kart games that can be played on a touchscreen device....

Microsoft has today announced the next batch of titles coming to Game Pass over the next two weeks, and it’s an impressive list that includes a major compilation and top-notch indies. The lineup is led by Mass Effect Legendary Edition, which is then followed by the unique space exploration game Outer Wilds and the acclaimed sequel title Spelunky 2. As is typical, several DLC packages, updates, and Game Pass Ultimate perks along with the new titles....

Perhaps there is a reason the Roman Reigns-Daniel Bryan storyline that has played out on SmackDown the last several weeks has almost zero semblance of sense to it. According to veteran wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer, WWE CEO Vince McMahon ripped up the SmackDown script about four hours before Tuesday night’s show and re-wrote the program himself. Metal Gear Solid 5 players can now spend real money to insure their Forward Operating Base against enemy attacks and be compensated for any staff and materials lost as a result of an enemy infiltration. The ‘FOB insurance service’ is introduced as part of today’s major Metal Gear Solid 5 update, and lets players spend Mother Base Coins to “sign up for insurance” and protect assets lost during an enemy encounter....

At the beginning of 2019, it was officially announced that the development of Metroid Prime 4 had been restarted in the hands of the legendary Retro Studios. Since this announcement, Retro has made some significant hires, and indeed the studio has recently added two more environment designers to the team. Specifically, Mark Capers and James Beech are now set to call Retro Studios their home, and some fans will certainly be familiar with their previous work....

To many people the Kinect is kind of an unknown quantity. Will it be worth the $149 price tag? Will there ever be games that take advantage of it which go beyond Wii Sports knocks-offs that will appeal to the hardcore gaming community?
