No, not the kind where it’s buying weird novelty stuff for the kitchen, but the industry-shaking kind. Microsoft already made headlines when it purchased ZeniMax Media, throwing the future of Bethesda’s titles on consoles (but not PC) into question. Now according to a new report, Microsoft is looking at Japanese developers for its next acquisitions....

After several months of rolling down the runway, the 40th Anniversary Update/Sim Update 11 for Microsoft Flight Simulator has taken to the skies. With it, Microsoft celebrates the four decades its longest-running game series has been on the market. As part of honoring its history, the update includes a wide variety of returning aircraft from past entries, all remodeled with advanced new flight characteristics and authentic visual complexity. Additionally, some new aircraft to the series are also a part of the update, along with the return of Mission Mode and classic airports, such as the legendary Megs Field in Chicago—the original starting point in many of the past Microsoft Flight Simulator entries....

Why, yes. Yes, it is. Netflix‘s newest fantasy fare (perfect for family watching), Letter For the King, is not an original story. The latest update to Final Fantasy XIV might include a homage to one of the most popular sci-fi RPG series in gaming, Mass Effect. The update came with a lot of new goodies for PvP fans, including a new gameplay mode and plenty of prizes to enjoy with the new tiered systems. Among those is a gunblade for Gunbreakers called Tropaios Bayonet, and it feels definitely familiar. While it’s not a straight copy (which is understandable, since this is likely to be a homage and not an official collaboration), it appears to include several elements of the design language from some of the most iconic Mass Effect weapons....

Evidence found today seems to point to a new Darksiders game being announced at E3, a slightly over-zealous schedule announcement seems to have revealed. Despite no official announcement from THQ Nordic as of yet, the official E3 Coliseum Schedule has been published, detailing some of the games and speakers who will be showcasing their wares with Mr Game Awards himself Geoff Keighley. Notably (originally spotted by PC site Wccftech) under the entry for Thursday June 13 is a panel discussing the Darksiders series, with the blurb specificially stating ‘This panel will coincide with the E3 2019 unveil of a brand new Darksiders game that takes the franchise in a fresh direction....

Microsoft has announced next month’s lineup of free Games with Gold, revealing that, from July, Xbox One users will receive two free games each month to celebrate the program’s 2-year anniversary. From July 1-31, Xbox One Gold subscribers will be able to download 2013 hit Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, with cutesy platformer So Many Me available from July 16-August 15. Meanwhile, Xbox 360 users can grab tower defence game Plants vs Zombies from July 1-15, with 2011’s top third-person shooter Gears of War 3 taking over from July 16-31....

BBC America’s critical and fan darling Killing Eve has returned for a third season! Of course, there wasn’t even time for doubt, since the Killing Eve Season 3 announcement was made in April at the AMC Networks Summit (BBC America is co-owned by AMC and BBC Studios), only one day after the second season premiere. Interestingly enough, the network continued its preemptive renewal strategy in January 2020, giving an early order for Season 4!...

Back in June, Kingdom Hearts 3 director Tetsuya Nomura detailed some of the game’s upcoming DLC, including the Re Mind expansion. Square Enix released a brief trailer for Re Mind, but as is typical with the Kingdom Hearts franchise, it left many with more questions than answers. As the first details of Kingdom Hearts Dark Road are revealed, fans are ready for Xehanort’s swan song. Since the Dark Seeker Saga wraps up with the defeat of the series’ main antagonist, Xehanort’s schemes end with Kingdom Hearts 3’s finale. Despite the franchise looking to the future, Kingdom Hearts Dark Road will focus on Xehanort’s coming-of-age as a youth and his training as a Keyblade Master. Most importantly, Dark Road presents an interesting question that’s never truly been answered, at least cohesively, by the franchise thus far: what made Xehanort succumb to the darkness and become the villain of Kingdom Hearts?...

It has been well over five years since Konami announced and promptly cancelled the return of their beloved horror franchise, Silent Hill.
