Metroid Prime 4 developer Retro Studios is looking for an art director to work on Metroid Prime 4, which was sadly absent at this year’s E3. What’s interesting about the job advertisement is that it specifies that the successful person will need to set an ‘artistic vision’ for the game. This means that the project is in its early stages, which comes as no surprise. It’s no wonder that we didn’t see anything out of Metroid Prime 4 this E3, and it might be a long time yet before we get anything more than the lovely logo that sits at the top of this post....

Microsoft will next need to defend its $68.7bn bid to buy Activision Blizzard in front of the EU, a fresh report has claimed. News agency Reuters reported that Microsoft is set to receive an antitrust warning from the European Commission, setting out the organisation’s objections to the deal. This document will be shared with Microsoft in the coming weeks, it’s understood, ahead of the EU’s 11th April deadline for its decision on the deal....

Today publisher aNCHOR had news to share about its Muv-Luv mobile game Immortals: Muv-Luv Alternative. The news was delivered by brand producer Kazutoshi “Tororo” Matsumura via livestream. We learn that aNCHOR has discussed with several companies specialized in this kind of mobile game and ultimately decided for a co-publisher, NextNinja of Grand Summoners fame. The aim is still to restart the game in a form that everyone can enjoy, but it’ll take time, and the new estimated release is “around spring 2023....

Paradox Interactive and former Civilization V lead designer Jon Shafer are no longer an item. Their split was announced today through a Paradox press release. It looks like the upcoming Re: Mind DLC will give Kingdom Hearts 3 a new ESRB rating. Or, at least, it’ll give the rating more warnings announcing maturer content. The game will continue to sit at “Everyone 10+,” but will now have three new warnings attached. The vanilla version of Kingdom Hearts 3 currently tells buyers that players will experience “Fantasy Violence,” and “References to Alcohol.” However, Re: Mind will upgrade “References to Alcohol” to “Use of Alcohol,” and will add “Mild Blood,” and “Mild Language....

Square Enix and Disney have announced that Kingdom Hearts 3 is to be released in 2018, having been first revealed at E3 in 2013. With the announcement, made at the D23 Expo, was a trailer, showing off the Toy Story world, the first world in the Kingdom Hearts series to be based on a Disney Pixar film.. You’ve certainly got a friend in me. The new trailer follows the series protagonist Sora, with Donald Duck and Goofy, as they go to Andy’s room, where they meet the Toy Story luminaries Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Hamm, Rex and Sarge....

Kingpin: Reloaded, the upscaled remaster of 1999 PC criminal FPS Kingpin: A Life of Crime will miss its originally intended 2020 release and has been pushed into next year, as per an announcement on the game’s Steam page. The reason given for the delay by developer Slipgate Ironworks is apparently due to a major shift in how the team is making the remaster; having earlier intended to recreate the game in a modern engine, as the source code for the original game no-longer exists....

Knockout City’s eighth season, High Society Heist, is slated for release on 29th November, 2022. Running until 5th December, High Society Heist heralds new content, including new Poison Special Ball, new cosmetic type “Brags”, and yes, more Teenage Mutant Ninja/Hero Turtles stuff, including TMNT Villains Behop and Rocksteady amongst new Player icons, those aforementioned Brags, and custom intro poses, too. “In High Society Heist, the Red Hand Crew is stirring up trouble in Knockout City, and Commissioner Chase is on the case,” explains the accompanying blurb....

Konami has recognised that “multiple factors” contributed to eFootball’s disasterous launch last year, but says it has “prioritised improvements and corrections based on the feedback and opinions we received”. As Tom summarised for us earlier this week, eFootball - the new name for PES - arrived in a disastrous state late last year, even though Konami warned players it would arrive in extremely limited form akin to a demo. Now, however, the beleaguered publisher has acknowledged the “incompletion” of the game to our sister site VGC, pointing the finger to several factors it believes contributed to the game’s dreadful reception on release....

Konami has announced a partnership with Inter Milan, which will see PES 2018 become the Global Football Video Game Partner for the Italian footballing giant. News of this agreement follows on from such historic partnerships as Valencia CF and West London goliaths, Fulham FC. Yes, Fulham.
