Today brings a new trailer for Horizon Forbidden West, showcasing the challenges players will face in its titular West. Following on from the events of Horizon Zero Dawn, this sequel puts players back into the shoes of Aloy once more. Unfortunately for the outcast-turned-Nora-hero, however, it does not look as though there will be any time to sit back and relax. A deadly plague now appears to be ravishing the land, threatening life once more....

Konami has removed Hideo Kojima’s name and the Kojima Productions logo from the Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain box art. A revised version of the pack shot (pictured above) was uploaded by the publisher yesterday (spotted by NeoGAF) with references to Kojima and the studio completely removed. The original box art featured the line “A Hideo Kojima Game” and the logo for Kojima Productions. You can see how it had been set to appear in the image below....

Riot Games has announced that this year’s League of Legends All-Star Event will be returning to the HyperX Esports Arena at the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas. Just like last year, the event will feature charity fundraisers and competitive matches in non-standard game modes alongside competitive Summoner’s Rift play. Plus, this year will be the first to showcase Teamfight Tactics gameplay, making it the first All-Star Event to feature multiple Riot-developed games....

Last year, rumors started cropping up that a full-fledged remake of the PS1 JRPG The Legend of Dragoon was in development at Bluepoint Games. Nothing official has been announced, but in the meantime, some fans have taken matters into their own hands, creating a different kind of Legend of Dragoon remake. A Legend of Dragoon fan named Flanvel has been creating a remake of the game using RPG Maker MV. It’s really more of a “de-make” in that it uses an older graphical style than what was seen in the PS1 original, but it’s still a new way for fans to experience the game nevertheless....

Square Enix has unveiled a new trailer for Episode 2 of Life is Strange: Before the Storm. The episode is titled Brave New World, and sees Chloe getting herself into a little bit of bother, plus the return of some characters from the first game. It’ll be available from October 19 on the PS4, Xbox One and PC. In the trailer it’s clear that Chloe is finding things pretty tough at home she can’t get along with David, and becomes even more of a pain in the backside....

Square Enix has released some new media for Life is Strange: Before the Storm. Along with some new screens, there’s also a new gameplay video which shows more of the game’s story and how the protagonist, the 16 year old Chloe Price, is struggling to deal with the death of her father and the changes that have followed, as is signified by her attitude towards her mother’s boyfriend. Players return to familiar setting of Arcadia Bay, and the new gameplay video shows a hungover Chloe Price still in mourning over the death of her father, while also trying to get used to the unwelcomed entry of a new father figure, the condescending David....

Microsoft is working on backward compatibility support for Xbox 360 JRPGs Lost Odyssey and Blue Dragon, Phil Spencer has told Wired. The two games are apparently the Xbox head’s “most-wanted games”, Wired reports, although it isn’t yet clear how long it’ll take until they arrive on the service. As well as working with Xbox One, all backward compatible Xbox 360 games will also work on Microsoft’s next console Project Scorpio, which is due to be released late next year....

Lost Soul Aside developer Ultizero Games has provided a small update for the fans of the China Hero Project JRPG. According to an announcement made on Twitter, the game won’t appear at ChinaJoy, which is currently being hosted. That being said, development is proceeding smoothly and there’s a “big chance” that we’ll hear about the game before the end of 2022. You can check out the tweet below. If you’re unfamiliar with Lost Soul Aside, it was revealed back in 2016 as a solo project by indie developer Yang Bing, and it immediately drew attention from the industry due to its impressive visuals and animation....

The trailer for Lucifer Season 5 has finally arrived, showcasing an array of epic events designed to serve as a bittersweet climax for the entire series—at least until Netflix went and renewed the series for Season 6 this past June. At the end of August, Wizards of the Coast looked to shake up Magic: The Gathering’s Standard, Modern, and Vintage formats with several changes to the banned and restricted lists. Now, the October 2019 MTG banned and restricted announcement has come, and no changes have been made to any format. While no bans in MTG frequently suggests that all of the Magic: The Gathering formats are healthy, certain players feel that this is simply not the case, and today’s announcement is leaving some of these fans frustrated....

Mario Kart TV’s dedicated website, which allows users to watch uploaded Mario Kart 8 highlights, is to be taken offline on Tuesday, April 5, Nintendo has announced. “We are very thankful to the many people who have used this website since it launched in 2014,” reads the statement. Players of MK8 will still be able to share and watch videos via Mario Kart TV in-game. In addition, highlight videos uploaded to YouTube from the game will not be deleted after the website shuts down....

In a Tweet posted early this morning, Rust developer Facepunch studios confirmed that it has lost data in a data center fire. The data destroyed in the fire included player save data. According to Eurogamer, the fire happened at an OVH data center in Strasbourg, France. The CEO of OVH, Octave Klaba confirmed that one building, SBG2, was totally destroyed. Another building, SBG1, has been partially destroyed while two other buildings have remained unharmed....

Today third-party developers had news to share about add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator, including aircraft and airports. We start with a small update about the Boeing 757-200/300 in the works at Bluebird Simulations. According to the simulator, which has shared the screenshot below, there has been “lots of progress on the virtual cockpit’s switches and animations along with some systems implementation for the FMS.” That being said, there is still a “long way to go....

Microsoft still has unannounced Xbox One titles due for release this Christmas, marketing director Aaron Greenberg has teased. “I think this year coming up you’ll see [what will] arguably be one of the biggest holiday line-ups we’ve ever had in the history of our business,” Greenberg said on the latest episode of The Inner Circle Podcast. “You know some of the titles that are coming, there’s definitely more we haven’t announced....
