After announcing its intentions to investigate loot boxes in video games last week, the Belgian Gaming Commission has concluded that ‘the mixing of money and addiction is gambling.’ VTM News (via PC Gamer) reports that Belgium’s Minister of Justice Koen Geens has also stuck his oar in, stating that ‘mixing gambling and gaming, especially at a young age, is dangerous for the mental health of the child.’ Geens added that he’s keen to prevent games from including paid loot crates in the future, but notes that this might take some time because ‘we have to go to Europe....

MacGyver will soon be left without his Jack Dalton. George Eads – who, since the pilot, has co-starred on CBS’s MacGyver reboot series as Jack Dalton, the Bruce Willis-obsessed partner-in-the-field/comic-relief to the improvising lifehacking title character (Lucas Till) – is reportedly set to finish his run on the series, according to THR. While details about the circumstances surrounding Eads’s MacGyver exit are still somewhat vague, the report points to what is being called an “altercation” that occurred on the set of show – which is primarily shot in Atlanta – back in October, which culminated in the actor storming off the set, leaving the production in the lurch with several hours of shooting still scheduled that day....

Yet another game has been hit in the early 2020 game delay wave. The Sony published Iron Man VR will now be coming out on May 15, 2020. Originally scheduled for the end of February, developer Camouflaj took to Twitter to confirm the news and stated that the title wasn’t currently meeting its own expectations. WW2 shooter Medal of Honor: Pacific Assault is to be given away free on Origin, EA has announced. The game will be given away as part of EA’s ‘On The House’ range, although an exact date for when it will be available has yet to be confirmed. It would usually set you back £7.99. On The House is separate to Origin Access, of course, and does not require a subscription to use....

Nintendo of America top man Reggie Fils-Aime recently spoke to Mashable about Metroid Prime 4, saying that the video game giant has ’expectations about when [Metroid Prime 4] is going to be released. We haven’t announced it, but yeah, the game is well in development.' Revealed during Nintendo’s E3 2017 showcase, Metroid Prime 4 was just a logo. And since then, not much else. Fils-Aime did add that ‘Nintendo is well-known that if a game isn’t ready, we will push out the development in order to make sure that it is as strong as possible when the game launches....

Microsoft is to face a class-action lawsuit over allegations that a “design defect” with the Xbox 360 caused game discs “to be gouged”. Reuters reports that a federal appeals court revived allegations against the company earlier today, ruling that a “lower court judge misapplied the law in striking the classwide allegations”. This isn’t the first time Microsoft has faced allegations over scratched discs. Back in 2007, the company was sued by a man who claimed that his Xbox 360 had scratched his game discs, accusing the console of being “negligently designed and manufactured”....

Today third-party developers had more news to share about add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator, including reveals and a release. We start with the much-awaited release date of the Eurofighter Typhoon by CJ Simulations and DC Designs. We learn that it’ll launch on Just Flight’s store on Oct. 21, in just two days. It’ll be priced at €29.95. Next is another look at the assets being made for Orbx’s rendition of Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ESSA) in Sweden....

Third-party developers revealed new assets about upcoming add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator and released a new airport. Aero Dynamics provided new screenshots of its McDonnell Douglas KC-10 Extender, which will also come with the civilian DC-10-30 in both passenger and freight versions. If you’d like to follow the project’s progress, you can check out the developer’s Discord server. SNJ Sim revealed new screenshots of Saga Airport (RJFS) in Japan. According to the developer, the airport is almost finished....

Third-party developers are continuing to show new images of upcoming Microsoft Flight Simulator add-ons, both aircraft and airports. We start with Iris Simulations which showcased the upcoming Pilatus PC-21 trainer, including the first look at the highly-detailed cockpit. The aircraft is entering beta, so release shouldn’t be far. Next, we take a look at Blue Bird Simulations‘ Boeing 757, showing off the details of the engines and pylons. We move on to airports with FS Formosa about to release Lanyu Airport (RCNY) serving Orchid Island in Taiwan....

Can you still P freely? Not if you want to use this specific P, which this week has been trademarked by Microsoft. The trademark listing, spotted by Aggiornamenti Lumia, describes Microsoft’s P as “a geometric design in the shape of an uppercase ‘P’ in gradient shades from green to blue”. Why does Microsoft want this P in particular? Well, it’s set to be used for computer software of some kind - the trademark itself covers various uses, including programs for “visualising, animating, transforming, presenting and sharing data and other information” as well as “software development tools for the creation of computer software applications and mobile software applications”....

Last week we got a chance to see some brand new gameplay from the indie psychological horror game In Sound Mind. The game is being developed by We Create Stuff, who also worked on the Nightmare House source mod series. As we saw in our preview of In Sound Mind, this new title definitely takes inspiration from previous work, but expands upon it even further. The Living Tombstone will also provide music for the game....

An update to Call of Duty developer Infinity Ward’s Twitter page has fans speculating that the team may be ready to announced a new Modern Warfare game. On Friday, Infinity Ward switched out both its Twitter banner and profile icon which - at first blush, anyway - seemed to be solid black logos with no image or text. Brightened up, however, and eagle-eyed players think they’ve spotted fan-favourite character Ghost lurking in the background, sparking whispers that an announcement is imminent....
