Authorities have confirmed that a competitor at the Madden Classic series qualifying tournament in Jacksonville, Florida on Sunday afternoon shot dead two participants before taking his own life. The suspect has been identified as David Katz, 24, a resident of Baltimore, while the two victims were named as Elijah Clayton, 22, of Woodland Hills and Taylor Robertson, 28, of Giles. 10 other people were wounded in the shooting. Speaking at a news conference yesterday evening (via Polygon), Sheriff Mike Williams of the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, confirmed that Katz was indeed a competitor at the tournament and fatally shot himself after killing both Clayton and Robertson....

At The Game Awards last night, Magic: Legends, a brand new MMO ARPG based on Wizards of the Coast’s highly-popular TCG Magic: The Gathering, was officially revealed through a brief cinematic trailer. While this Magic: Legends trailer was high on style, it was low on actual information about the forthcoming title, but further details on Magic: Legends’s class system, combat, and co-op are now available for curious fans. The February update of Magic: The Gathering Arena is bringing some exciting things to the online platform, especially for players who like to bling out their decks. Starting February 11th, MTG Arena players will be able to get digital copies of the full art lands from the recent Theros Beyond Death expansion. The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D is a great game, but only because the game its remaking is so good. As a remake, Majora’s Mask 3D stumbles far more than it should, neutering a classic to the point where if someone has the choice between both versions, opting to play the 3DS remake over the N64 original would just be stupid. Where Ocarina of Time 3D was a sensible, 1:1 remake of its base game and Wind Waker added in enough features to make up for its less than stellar changes, Majora’s Mask 3D simply doesn’t bring enough new or meaningful things to the table to make up for how much it mangles the original....

God of War has officially won Best Game at this year’s BAFTA (British Academy of Film and Television Arts) Games Awards. The annual BAFTA is currently happening. In a press release, the organization listed the awards for the game’s section of the BAFTA and God of War achieved the Best Game award. In addition to that, the game also achieved Best Music and Narrative, and Best Performance was given to Jeremy Davies, who voiced The Stranger/Baldur....

Nintendo are ready to stir up more (mostly) good-natured arguments with the launch of Mario Party Superstars later this month. A new overview trailer gives us a good idea of what we can expect in this ‘best-of’ compendium. Five boards from the N64 era of the series make their return including Yoshi’s Tropical Island and Peach’s Birthday Cake from the first Mario Party. We’ve known that Marvel Vs Capcom: Infinite was on the way since its first reveal, way back in December last year.
