Dontnod Entertainment, the developer of Life is Strange and the upcoming Vampyr, has revealed that it’s entering into a strategic partnership with Bandai Namco to create a new IP based on an all-new narrative adventure experience. The deal was announced by MCV, which recently interviewed Bandai Namco’s VP of marketing and digital, Hervé Hoerdt. It’s all early days, however, and there are a few details about the game, but no confirmation for which platforms the game will be coming to at this time....

Here’s an unexpected announcement from tonight’s Final Fantasy XIV Digital Fan Festival 2021 keynote. Despite previously stating that Viera and Hrothgar would be the final races added to the game, it turns out they won’t be gender-locked. We will, indeed, be getting male Viera and female Hrothgar. Previously, these two races could only be created as a single gender — females for Viera, and males for Hrothgar — because of the work involved in redoing every armor set to fit new races and body types....

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced that the next fighters to join the Injustice 2 roster include super-baddie Black Manta, Raiden from Mortal Kombat and the underworld’s half-demon Hellboy. These fighters come to the game in Fighter Pack 2 which will be available in September. The trailer opens with previous DLC characters Red Hood and Starfire on the floor after a thorough battering by Raiden. Black Manta steps out the shadows and fires a double rocket at Raiden who disappears into thin air, and one of the rockets is caught by none-other than the one and only half-demon, Hellboy, who catches a goddamn rocket and lights his cigar with it....

A Japanese man has been arrested for modding and re-selling a PlayStation 3. The act violates both Japanese copyright laws and the Unfair Competition Prevention Law. In most cases, modding game systems are illegal, and perpetrators are subject to the full effects of the law if caught. While arrests are generally reserved for more serious cases, such as the Japanese man that threatened to burn down a games company, arrests for modding game consoles for pirating purposes will also occasionally happen....

Call of Duty 2020 may bring jetpacks back, but the director despises them due to the negativity surrounding their use in previous entries (via DualShockers). A fan asked Treyarch game director David “Vahn” Vonderhaar if jetpacks would be added to the next Call of Duty title. He emphatically answered, “NO.” As fans continued to press the issue, he joked that he was “hung from the highest branch” by the community with the mechanic that was used in each Call of Duty game between 2014 and 2017....

Bandai Namco released two more character trailers of its upcoming fighting game JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle R. The videos show off one of the series’ main antagonists, Kars, and his loyal servant, Wamuu, showing them and their moves in action. Sega has announced that the Japanese version of Judgment, known over there as Judge Eyes, is to return to sale on July 18 after replacing the character of Kyohei Hamura’s likeness and voice actor. The game was originally pulled from sale back in March, after original actor Pierre Taki was arrested on drug charges in Toyko, Japan. As was revealed last month, the character now has a new look, and will now be voiced in the Japanese language by actor Miou Tanaka who previously had a role in the Japanese version of Yakuza Kiwami 2....

Rocket-building space simulator Kerbal Space Program is coming to Xbox One, developer Squad has announced. American studio Flying Tiger is handling the port. The game first released on PC as an Early Access title way back in 2011 before launching in full in April this year, and lets players build spaceships to head on a galactic adventure across the stars. A release date and specifics on the console release have yet to be announced....
