Updates for Valheim, the massively successful survival crafting sim from developer Iron Gate, usually change some game mechanic. The last update for the game for instance, changed its terrain generation mechanics. Valheim‘s latest update isn’t as gameplay focused though, instead revamping the look of the game’s trolls by sending them to the gym. Now when you encounter one of these creatures in the game, they’ll be more muscular, and sport well-defined hair and nails....

Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski may want to look away now, because LawBreakers player counts (following its release on PC two days ago) are available, and they’re not very good. Despite some user positive reviews the game has seen a drop of 60% below that of the game’s first beta back in June. According to Steam figures obtained by Githyp, LawBreakers managed to muster a paltry peak figure of 3,019 players, compared to 7,500+ during the beta period, failing to break into the top 100 games on Steam....

TT Games and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have announced that the Marvel Avengers: Infinity War Character and Level Pack is on its way to Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2. The latest slice of DLC for the superhero extravaganza adds Infinity War’s Big Bad Thanos as a playable character, who is on a mission to overthrow Black Bolt and the Inhumans alongside his dedicated army of goons. In addition to Thanos, the expansion adds Corvus Glaive, Cull Obsidian, Proxima Midnight, Ebony Maw, Hulkbuster 2....

Starting today, the Epic Games Store will offer Limbo for free until July 25. This offering is in line with their weekly schedule for free games, which have previously included titles like Torchlight, Rebel Galaxy, and Super Meat Boy. After July 25, the company will offer both Moonlighter and This War of Mine for free. Limbo has made its way to a variety of platforms over the years. If you haven’t had a chance to play this short indie title, now’s a great chance....

You know, I’ve always heard that gaming was more or less the same gratification loop, being executed continuously until the credits roll. The upcoming game Loop Hero actually takes that concept to the most literal extreme possible, by forcing players to literally walk in a circle, forever. It’s equal parts deck builder, strategy, and roguelike, all blended up into a delicious slurry of gaming goodness. Yet, despite coming out of nowhere, this surprising romp is very much worth keeping your eyes on going into 2021....

Sega is about to release the story expansion DLC for Lost Judgment titled “The Kaito Files,” and they just launched a new trailer. This time around, the trailer focuses on the story, introducing the main characters that Masaharu Kaito will meet while working on his case. Magic: The Gathering pro Lee Shi Tian expressed support for Hong Kong protesters in an interview after his win at the Mythic Championship held last weekend (via Kotaku). Under a ‘one country, two systems’ arrangement, Hong Kong is a former British colony that was given to China in 1997. It has a certain level of autonomy within the country, and the proposed extradition bill is perceived to threaten the freedoms of Hong Kongers in relation to China....

AlphaDream, the developer of the Mario & Luigi games, has gone bankrupt and has announced that the studio will be shutting down (via Kotaku). AlphaDream was founded in 2000 by the former president of Square, Tetsuo Mizuno. It’s best known for the Hamtaro series and the Mario & Luigi JRPGs, and primarily created games for Nintendo’s handheld platforms. The developer also made remakes of Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions and Mario & Luigi: Bowser’s Inside Story + Bowser Jr....

It’s possible that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe may not be as “Deluxe” as we were led to believe, as new content is coming to the game in the future that may include paid DLC. Shinya Takahashi revealed in an interview that was uploaded to Nintendo of America’s Twitter page that “further updates” will be coming to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in the future, though he didn’t specify what form those updates would take or when exactly they would be coming....

Marvel’s Avengers is just seven months away from launch, but there are still a lot of secrets surrounding the game. The developers have been a bit mysterious when it comes to how many playable characters will be in the game at launch, but New York Comic-Con definitely confirmed there will be more than the core team of starting Avengers. As we edge closer to the October release of EA’s Medal of Honor, the controversy surrounding the game still seems to be growing. Last week, the U.K.’s Defense Secretary Liam Fox urged retailers to ban this “thoroughly un-British game.” Now the U.S. Army is taking the next step against the title by banning the game from being sold in its on-base stores. By the time you are reading this, all 49 Gamestop stores in the Army and Air Force Exchange Services (AAFES) will have transferred their pre-orders to off-base stores, and pulled down all marketing materials associated with the game....

Today Kadokawa Games reached out with a press release to announce the cancellation of Metal Max Wild West. The game was originally announced in 2019 with a 2020 release window as Metal Max Xeno Reborn 2, and then renamed into Metal Max Wild West in 2021 with a planned release in the same year. The release then shifted to this year for PS4 and Nintendo Switch, but unfortunately, it won’t happen....

Update: Sorry folks, Deep Silver has said it has no plans to release a new Metro game next year. “As the exclusive rights holder to video games set in the Metro 2033 universe, Deep Silver has ambitious plans for the hugely successful Metro series,” reads a statement from the publisher. “But just to manage our fans’ expectations – releasing the next Metro game in 2017 is not one of them....
