Sega just released a monster Headline for Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis. This month’s Headline not only confirmed the arrival of a new region, but also a ton of other content. The new region coming to PSO2 New Genesis is Kvaris, a snowy realm that differs greatly from both Aelio and Retem. Back before a quote could spread across the internet in a matter of moments, former Nintendo president, Hiroshi Yamauchi, didn’t mince words when asked about his competitor, PlayStation. Back in an early 2000s edition of the gaming magazine, Gamers’ Republic, Yamauchi was quoted for saying that the reason the PlayStation outsold the Nintendo’s N64 was because Japanese gamers, “(like) to be alone in their rooms and play depressing games.” Yamauchi had been known to have a short temper, and he most likely made the statement out of frustration, not expecting anyone to take much weight from it....
Steam and Capcom have released some new footage of Devil May Cry 5 running on the upcoming Steam Deck handheld. The footage has apparently been provided by the game’s lead designer Yoichiro Ikeda. It’s an excellent showcase of the technical capabilities of Valve’s portable machine, with the game’s RE Engine looking no less fabulous on the smaller screen of the device. Of course, the reason for this footage is to build more hype for the Steam Deck....

A blink-and-you’ll-miss-it tease in the newly-announced Kingdom Hearts 4 reveal trailer seems to hint at a Star Wars crossover. Eagle-eyed fans have found what they think is the foot of an AT-ST walker - the chicken-legged tanks most famous from their appearance in Return of the Jedi. Fittingly, this scene appears to be placed in a forest area - which looks very like the forest moon of Endor. Hey! Maybe this means Kingdom Hearts 4 will get Ewoks too?...
It’s being rumoured that Sega’s upcoming Lost Judgment will be the final entry in the Yakuza spin-off series, due to a disagreement between Sega and the talent agency representing the actor who plays series star Takayuki Yagami. As reported by Kotaku, Japanese celebrity publication Nikkan Taishu has word from an industry insider claiming that a disagreement has come up between “those on the side of the game developer” (which we believe to be referring to Sega and Ryu Ga Gotoku) and “those on the side of Johnny’s” referring to Johnny & Associates – the talent agency who represent series lead Takuya Kimura, who plays Yagami....

A free update to Sifu adds Mandarin voiceover. The update, available on PlayStation and PC, adds an extra layer of authenticity to the experience - a Kung Fu game set in a fictional Chinese city. The update, known by the community as ‘wave 2’, brings eight new tracks to the game as part of Nintendo’s commitment to add 48 additional courses to the game. Today acclaimed developer PMDG had news to share about the upcoming and highly-anticipated Boeing 737-800 variant. We learn that today a possible release candidate build of the aircraft will go into testing. While there might be a couple of further tweaks the developer may want to implement, the planned release window is between August 23 and August 31. At the moment, PMDG isn’t “anticipating any technical obstructions to a release.”...

Microsoft’s buyout of Activision Blizzard has given first insight into the revenue generated by Xbox Game Pass. Brazil’s Administrative Council for Economic Defense (CADE) has approved the buyout and released a public document including data on various gaming companies, as spotted by Tweaktown. According to that data, revenue generated through Xbox Game Pass was $2.9bn in the fiscal period ending January 2021. Impressive Wii emulator Dolphin has recently been updated to include the ability to access the Wii Shop Channel, from which users can actually buy and download games. Emulation can do amazing things for the SD Wii game visuals, presenting the likes of Skyward Sword and Super Mario Galaxy is crisp HD, but is often criticised for its reliance on pirated/illegal software.
