Kotaku has reported that Mass Effect has been ‘put on ice’ for the moment after the somewhat divisive reception to Mass Effect: Andromeda, as well as sales that weren’t as strong as Mass Effect 3. Also, developer BioWare Montreal will now act as a support to other studios in the BioWare stable, according to Kotaku’s anonymous sources. Currently, BioWare Montreal is said to helping with the development of Dylan — BioWare’s new IP that probably won’t be called Dylan once its scheduled release date comes around in 2019, because that’s just a codename....

343 Industries describes Master Chief removing his helmet in the new Halo TV series as “a mission statement”. In a lengthy blog post from 343 Industries community writer Alex Wakeford dissecting the opening episode (it’s full of spoilers!), the matter of the lead character removing his helmet is addressed, seemingly in response to fan criticism. The post notes that the games “have predominantly been a space for player projection”, but fans of the expanded universe shouldn’t be quite so surprised....

Metal Gear Solid voice actress and singer Donna Burke has clarified comments made last week in which she claimed that Hideo Kojima had been fired, stating that “Konami is correct in that Kojima has not actually been fired”. “I agree, Konami- I should be more accurate,” she wrote on Facebook, before highlighting the message she made last week. “Konami is correct in that Kojima has not actually been fired. The excellent Metroid Dread will get both easier and hard today, via a free update which adds fresh difficulty modes. Dread Mode is basically a one-hit-kill affair, where even the slightest knock will down Samus for good. Rookie Mode, meanwhile, will offer you “increased recovery” for an easier ride. A further free update will arrive in April, meanwhile. This will add a new boss rush mode which will do exactly as you’d expect: let you relive every big encounter in Metroid Dread, one after the other, to truly test your mettle....

Intellivision, maker of the beleagured and delayed Amico console, has informed pre-order customers of fresh issues holding up delivery of their systems. A “significant number” of staff have now been laid off in order to meet “dramatically reined in operating costs”, Intellivision boss Phil Adam wrote in an email to customers, which has in turn led to further issues. However, Intellivision appears to be adamant it will still release the Amico at some point....

Forspoken, a magic parkour RPG entry from Luminous Productions and Square Enix, has finally been launched. Vostok Games, the Kyiv-based developer of Survarium, has provided an update on its status as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine continues. The Legend of Zelda will always prioritize gameplay first and foremost, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a clear effort on Nintendo’s part to keep the lore of the franchise as rich and engaging as possible. There are no more Little Nightmares in store for Tarsier Studios. The developer confirmed today that it has no plans to continue the series. Little Nightmares 2 saw huge success with its release earlier this month, and with that, Tarsier is on to new things. All hope may not be lost, though. Publisher and IP owner Bandai Namco could proceed with more installments. In an official statement to IGN, Tarsier CEO Andreas Johnsson revealed that the Little Nightmares series is over, at least for Tarsier....

Prime Gaming has announced seven new games coming to its line up this March, including Madden NFL 22. From 1st March, Prime Gaming members will be able to play Madden NFL 22, Surviving Mars, Crypto Against All Odds, I’m looK INside, Pesterquest, SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech and The Stillness of the Wind as part of the service. Along with these games, there will also be new in game loot and content drops for titles such as Call of Duty, GTA Online, Fall Guys and Read Dead Online throughout the month....

I’ve been struggling to work out exactly what Magic: Legends is. The game was originally pitched as an MMO, but more recently I’ve seen it described as an online action RPG. Since the launch of Mass Effect Andromeda in 2017, the sci-fi franchise that defined a generation of video games has laid mostly dormant. Remember a few weeks ago when Game Rant reported Bungie’s claims that they would not be putting Master Chief in Halo: Reach? Yeah, well apparently they weren’t exactly telling the truth. Bungie.net recently released a picture of Halo: Reach’s “Initial Armory Inventory” that - oddly enough - features a picture of the Chief. The wears in the inventory can be purchased from day one by leveling your character in the online modes and earning points to buy them....
