Former Gears of War designer Cliff Bleszinski has announced that his studio Boss Key Productions is shutting down. Writing in a statement on Twitter overnight, Bleszinski confirmed that the developer is ’effectively no more,’ and that he’s now decided to take time away from game design but hopes to ‘make something new again someday.’ The news comes following a trouble period for Boss Key, after its gravity-defying shooter LawBreakers failed to gather steam following its launch on PlayStation 4 and PC in 2017....

Bandai Namco has announced that minifig melee beat-em-up Lego Brawls will arrive on consoles and PC from September 2. As previously revealed back in May, Lego Brawls will see players go into battle with Lego Minifig heroes. They’ll get to design their own fighter from a range of Lego parts to give them their own look & fighting style. They’ll then take these into battle across a range of similarly Lego-themed battleground stages....

Another round of layoffs has hit embattled Mafia 3 studio Hangar 13, with around 50 people affected. It follows an earlier round of job losses last November, when 200 positions were at risk, and the departure of the studio’s head Haden Blackman earlier this month. These latest job losses will affect Hangar 13’s main location in California, Kotaku reported. Staff were informed remotely by Hangar 13’s new boss Nick Baynes, who ran the company’s Brighton location before succeeding Blackman as overall company head....

Bioware has offered up a small tease of the next Mass Effect game as treat for fans via a new poster to mark N7 Day. The studio posted the image to the game’s official Twitter account last night. While it doesn’t give away too much, there’s a crater that appears to be in the shape of the Geth. The mysterious scene includes four figures disembarking a shuttle, walking towards what appears to be a Geth corpse lying in the ground....

It seems that the next games will be Donkey Kong Jr., Clu Clu Land, and Vs. Excitebike. Donkey Kong Jr. was one of the three launch titles for the Famicom in Japan. Microsoft appears to be teasing something Minecraft and AR related after a video the company posted onto its YouTube channel yesterday. The video was originally shown as part of the Microsoft Build Conference which took place on Monday, and shows off some blocky action seeping into the real world when a hapless employee accidentally leaves his phone on a park bench.
