Legendary game designer Jeff Minter and his Llamasoft outfit is back with another blast of psychedelic shooter action, this time in the form of Akka Arrh - a “reimagining” of an ’80s arcade cabinet game that never actually released. This, of course, is a somewhat different scenario to Minter’s Polybius, which was inspired by an ’80s arcade cabinet game that never actually existed. Akka Arrh, though, is very much a thing, having been designed by Atari’s Mike Hally and Dave Ralston as a prototype back in 1982....

Jet Set Radio is one of three new Xbox 360 titles now supported by Xbox One backward compatibility, Microsoft has announced. SEGA’s Jet Set Radio launched for Xbox 360 back in 2012, offering an HD update to the classic Dreamcast title. Also making their mark on backwards compat are MX vs ATV Reflex and Texas Hold ‘Em. The new titles follow a larger update last week which included Altered Beast, Comix Zone, Double Dragon: Neon, Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime, The Cave, Galaga Legions DX and Frogger....

Microsoft has announced the full line-up of titles included in next month’s Xbox Games with Gold. From June 1, Gold subscribers will be able to download whacky farm animal sim Goat Simulator on Xbox One and the super-difficult Super Meat Boy on Xbox 360. Then, from June 16, online racer The Crew will be available on Xbox One, with classic turn-based strategy XCOM: Enemy Unknown popping up on Xbox 360. Both 360 titles will be backward compatible with Xbox One....

When we last saw former Jurassic World operations manager Claire Dearing in the 2015 film of the same name, she had just outrun a dinosaur in high heels while realizing that perhaps letting cloned prehistoric creatures run around in an amusement park wasn’t the best idea in the world. Three years later, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom finds Claire — once again played by Bryce Dallas Howard — working as a full-time activist in charge of the Dinosaur Protection Group, an organization devoted to getting the surviving animals off Isla Nublar and somehow preserving them....

Kena: Bridge of Spirits finally has a release date. Developer Ember Lab revealed a stunning trailer for the action adventure story during Sony’s Stay of Play event today, and announced the release date as August 24. Fans can expect to see the game hit PC via Epic Games Store. Just like clockwork, a Kena page has appeared on the Epic Games Store, teasing “a story driven, action adventure combining exploration with fast-paced combat....

It looks like Kingdom Come: Deliverance, the 2018 action RPG set in the Medieval Holy Roman Empire, is getting a live-action adaptation. The adaptation will be produced by the developer of the game, Warhorse Studios, along with Wild Sheep Content. Erik Barmack founded Wild Sheep Entertainment last year and is a former Netflix executive. Together, Warhorse Studios CEO Martin Frývaldský and Barmack will produce the adaptation. We say “adaptation,” because we aren’t sure yet if the project will be a movie or series....

So, the Final Fantasy 7 remake and Kingdom Hearts 3… just what’s going on with those two titles? That’s exactly the trouble, we don’t really know. The games’ director, Tetsuya Nomura, has spoken out about the perils of early reveals. You’ve got to feel for the dev teams at times, you really do. Publisher Square Enix has confirmed the existence of Kingdom Hearts IV. The upcoming entry in the popular Disney crossover JRPG series was shown towards the end of the Kingdom Hearts 20th Anniversary event over the weekend. The accompanying announcement trailer showcases a little of what fans can expect. Most notable are the fresh visuals that seem to have taken a huge leap in graphical fidelity from Kingdom Hearts III. Today, EA Sports showed off an exclusive first look at Madden 23 via their Madden Championship Series, which featured notable competitors TDBarrett and Cleff facing off in one-on-one action, featuring additional commentary from one of the game designers, K.Spade. In the video, we see the players experience all the changes that the FieldSENSE gameplay system is set to implement. Some of those changes we get to see in the matchup include free-form passing, new X-Factor abilities, and considerable playbook adjustments, just to name a few....

Remedy has announced plans to remake Max Payne 1 and 2 after agreeing a deal with original publisher Rockstar. The neo-noir action games, known for their bullet-time gameplay, return as a single title for PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, and are built with Remedy’s own Northlight game engine. According to Remedy, Rockstar is footing the bill for development. The studio behind Alan Wake and Control said the remake’s development budget is “in line with a typical Remedy AAA-production”....

Third-party developers have provided new assets and reveals about upcoming add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator. First of all, we take a look at the upcoming update for the freeware Airbus A330neo by Headwind currently in active development and already available on Flightsim.to. As you can see, a lot of work has been done to improve the 3D mesh of the fuselage, which looks quite impressive.
