Marc Guggenheim has been hired to pen the script for a Jackpot movie, reports Deadline....

The latest patch for Nintendo Switch’s Mario Kart 8 Deluxe fixes a number of niggling bugs players have had, but best of all, you can use a Pikmin-themed amiibo to unlock a Pikmin outfit for your Mii character. Download patch 1.2 now and you’ll also see that online matches finish 30 seconds after the first player-controlled driver crosses the finish line, as intended; you can’t deploy an item after it’s already been used to block an attack; and the item wheel doesn’t just constantly spin in online matches anymore....

Mario Kart Tour has gotten the Exploration Tour, and it adds new characters and a new course to the popular mobile game. The Exploration Tour kicked off today and will end on July 28. Mario Kart Tour is out now on iOS and Android. Choco Mountain, from Mario Kart 64 released in 1996, is the newest course for players to test their mettle. It’s gotten a lick of paint in Mario Kart Tour, with a cavern section with Swoopers and crystals through the face of the mountain....

Mass Effect Andromeda has given EA its first UK No.1 since FIFA 17 back in week 48 of 2016, Chart-Track reports. Despite charting at No.1, Andromeda is only the third biggest launch for a Mass Effect title, with Mass Effect 3 remaining top dog. Andromeda is also the year’s third biggest launch so far, behind Ubisoft’s Ghost Recon Wildlands and Sony’s Horizon: Zero Dawn. Andromeda sales are split with 55 per cent on PS4, 41 per cent on Xbox One and four per cent from PC retail – digital sales will have performed much better on EA Origin....

Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain will be playable on the show floor at next month’s Gamescom, Konami has announced. The game will be joined on the publisher’s booth by PES 2016, which is also due to get its first public hands-on. “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain and PES 2016 will be available for the public to play for the first time at this year’s gamescom; and that’s the kind of line-up that packs a punch,” said Konami’s general manager Martin Schneider....

It might be a while before we get a Metal Gear Solid movie adaptation, because the director has not gotten the green light yet for various reasons. Jordan Vogt-Roberts, director of Kong: Skull Island, is attached to the project. Speaking on Gary Whitta’s Animal Talking show, he said that the script is done and dusted, but no studio has expressed interest in the adaptation at the moment. That’s due to a number of reasons....

Dinosaur park simulation Jurassic World Evolution 2 has a new developer diary out, with studio Frontier Developments chatting about some of the new locations, features and more in the upcoming sequel. As we learned back in June, the game’s campaign mode will pick up from the events of the end of the movie Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. Bryce Dallas Howard and Jeff Goldblum will also be voicing their roles as Claire Dearing and Dr Ian Malcom, respectively....

Avalanche Studios will now be known as Avalanche Studios Group, which is a move that will let it mobilise its three “creative divisions” for new game development (via My News Desk). The Group is split into Avalanche Studios, Expansive Worlds, and Systemic Reaction. So, Avalanche Studios will build upon and support its existing portfolio of titles, including Just Cause and Rage 2. Expansive Worlds will look after titles like theHunter, and Systemic Reaction is its self-publishing division, which helped to get Generation Zero out of the door....

The identity of this secret boss remains unknown, but Yozara seems to be the most popular choice of speculation at the moment. He’s a character who appeared in both the secret movie of Kingdom Hearts 3 and in the final moments of the last Re: Mind trailer. Nomura considers him and his Verum Rex world to be adaptations of unused Final Fantasy Versus 13 concepts and has dropped significant hints that Yozora will play a more involved role in the future of the series....

Kingdom Hearts 3 players can rejoice; Critical Mode is here, and with it comes a huge difficulty spike. The full roster for Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has reportedly been leaked through some marketing material revealing new characters, but have yet to be officially confirmed. When you have a game like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate releasing in the near future, supposed leaks are going to come out. Many are bogus, but sometimes they do prove accurate (back in May, a leaker on Reddit stated that Ridley and Simon Belmont would be featured in the game)....
