The Black Panther join’s Marvel’s Avengers in the War for Wakanda expansion today, so naturally there’s a launch trailer to mark the occasion. Of course, the Black Panther has not arrived alone. This means the arrival of a few new villains including black market arms dealer Ulysses Klaue and the mercenary Crossbones. There’s plenty of favourite allies too, including Captain of the Dora Milaje, Okoye, and his sister Princess Shuri. They’ll all play an important part in the story and the battle to keep Wakanda safe....

Developer Insomniac will return to the Spider-Man universe with the recently revealed Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales for the PlayStation 5. As the title suggests, the game will center on Miles Morales. While the messaging was a bit confusing at first regarding whether this was a sequel to Marvel’s Spider-Man or an expansion for the game, Insomniac has clarified that the game is a standalone title. “The latest adventure in the Spider-Man universe will build on and expand Marvel’s Spider-Man through an all-new story,” reads the expansion’s description in a PlayStation blog....

Today Marvelous Entertainment shared its financial results for the first quarter of the fiscal year, related to the period between April 1 and June 30, 2021. Unfortunately, sales were 5.319 billion yen and declined by 1.153 billion yen year-on-year. Operating income was 780 billion yen, almost halved year-on-year. This is due to the unfavorable comparison with strong sales of Rune Factory 5, which did well in the same quarter in 2021....

BioWare has reiterated that the Mass Effect franchise is still very much alive, despite the fact it’s done nothing since 2017’s Mass Effect: Andromeda. Speaking in a studio profile on Polygon, Mark Darrah, who served as executive producer on Andromeda, said there’s ‘a lot of stories’ that can still be told in the sprawling sci-fi universe. Right now it seems there’s no actual game in development, though. ‘We’re definitely not done with Mass Effect,’ he said....

Metal Gear Online will finally launch on PC tomorrow morning, Konami has announced – but it still isn’t entirely finished. Instead, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain players will be able to “opt in and download the Beta release of Metal Gear Online” from 10pm PT this evening (6am GMT January 13), when they’ll be given the first chance to give the online game a go. “While that’s our target time, there’s a chance it’ll slip by an hour or two as we implement this awaited update,” Kojima Productions LA community manager Robert Peeler posted on Steam, “but rest assure we will be here for support and launch as planned....

A film based on author Dmitry Glukhovsky’s Metro series is now in development in Russia. Glukhovsky’s novel Metro 2033 is now being adapted into a feature-length movie by Russia’s TV-3 Channel and Central Partnership Film Company, which are part of Gazprom Media. Production is set to begin sometime next year with a release date set for January 1, 2020, per Variety. It’s not yet known who’ll be directing this adaptation, with casting yet to be announced as well....

According to Game Informer’s Imran Khan, a Nintendo Switch version of the Metroid Prime Trilogy has ‘been long done,’ but for reasons unknown has been delayed. Writing on Twitter, Khan said that an announcement was due to take place last month (possibly at The Game Awards, as it was already rumoured in early December), but that didn’t happen. Maybe we’ll get something at E3? The news comes in wake of Metroid Prime 4’s delay, with Nintendo confirming last week that it has now been rebooted at Retro Studios....

Third-party developers continue to showcase new assets and improvements for their add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator. MilViz continues its teasing sequence made of releasing single screenshots of its upcoming aircraft. This time around it’s the ATR 72. While it is only one screenshot, it provides a very nice and wide view of the flight deck. Next is Gate15Scenery with more shots of its upcoming Nanki–Shirahama Airport (RJBD) in Japan. This time around we get to see the iconic ferris wheel of the Adventure World amusement park and the nearby XIV Hotel....

Today new reveals were made about upcoming add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator, including aircraft and scenery. Microsoft piqued everyone’s interest and imagination by announcing “console-quality game streaming on any device.” Today, they’ve finally decided to unveil the fruits of their labor — Project xCloud.
