Metroid Prime developer Retro Studio once had an idea for an XCOM-style game starring Samus Aran. The concept, dubbed Metroid Tactics, was the brainchild of Metroid Prime developer Paul Tozer. The idea was one of several pitched following the conclusion of Retro’s Metroid Prime trilogy - and another which was ultimately turned down. Tozer discussed the pitch publicly for the first time this week in a new Did You Know Gaming video which details the game’s planned setting and storyline as a prequel to the entire Metroid series....

Third-party developers have released new airports for Microsoft Flight Simulator alongside new screenshots of another. V Pilot Designs released El Caraño Airport (SKUI) serving Quibdó in Colombia. The airport is available exclusively on the official Microsoft Flight Simulator marketplace for $11.99 both for PC and Xbox. While we can’t link to the official marketplace’s listings, all you need to do to find it is search for “SKUI.” Next, is another release on the official marketplace, Esbjerg Airport (EKEB) in Denmark....

The Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase was a treat for fans at E3 this year, as a lot of fan-favorite games were shown. Microsoft Flight Simulator fans were treated to a couple of announcements, too. The first is that the game will be coming to Xbox Series X|S on July 27. The second, and important one for PC gamers, is that Microsoft Flight Simulator is getting a free Top Gun Maverick DLC....

Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow were released over two decades ago when the standards for what is appropriate in a children’s game were a bit different. Pokémon first made its debut in 1996, when Pokémon Red and Green were released in Japan. Soon after, Pokémon Red and Blue, were released in North America in 1998. Ken Levine of Irrational Games, the mastermind behind the dystopic, underwater paradise-gone-wrong game, BioShock, made his opinions known regarding the inclusion of Move support in his latest title, BioShock: Infinite. Short story? He will not include it. The reasons behind his decisions though, are profound and show his commitment to bringing gamers a quality product of his own creation and not to include features that might be superfluous. In the series Tulsa King, Dwight Manfredi wanders through Oklahoma and stumbles across a landmark in the downtown area known as the Center of the Universe. Many folk from different walks of life come to this odd location, from tourists to spiritualists, to walk upon its steps and experience something profound. This scene exemplifies the show, which is an odd-man-out story about an aging mobster forced by his crime family to relocate to Tulsa, Oklahoma after completing his 25-year prison sentence....

In fact, in genre terms, it’s the closest we’ve had to a top-tier tentpole ever, so there was always going to be a lot riding on it. In terms of scale, ambition and scope, It Chapter Two goes all out, with increasingly gross and spectacular set pieces, arcs, trials and torments for each of its main characters and plenty of flashbacks featuring the young cast....

Activision Publishing boss Eric Hirshberg has spoken out about the collaborative working relationship of Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games on Modern Warfare 3, saying that 2011’s biggest video game has gotten better overall because the two studios have overcome “healthy creative tensions”. Infinity Ward was sole proprietor of the Modern Warfare series until the dramatic and public firings of studio bosses Jason West and Vince Zampella in 2010. Speaking to Industry Gamers, Hirshberg commended Infinity Ward as it “welcomed in [Sledgehammer Games] and that was probably a decision born out of necessity – nobody probably would have designed it that way proactively, but because they were going through a rebuilding right in the middle of this development, they welcomed a pretty high octane partner into their creative process....

Imagine all the Beatles living life in peace. After a few days of teasing bits and pieces regarding Kislev, the faction’s full roster in Total War: Warhammer III has finally been revealed by Creative Assembly. Of course, the first teaser already made it known that Tzarina Katarin Bokha is one of Kislev’s legendary lords. However, it’s also confirmed that her father, Boris, is already dead at the start of the campaign. Now that she’s the leader of the Ice Court, Tzarina Katarin seeks to showcase her mastery of the Lore of Ice....

Lego Marvel Super Heroes 2 has been announced via a short teaser video on the game’s official Facebook page. The 16 second clip that you can watch below all but confirms that the Guardians of the Galaxy (who were in sidequests in the first game, but not the main story) will be in the sequel, along with Doctor Strange who shows up right at the end. The full-length trailer is coming on May 23, which will no doubt give us a better insight into what’s coming in the sequel to 2013’s Lego Marvel Super Heroes....

Gaming company Square Enix came under threat recently just a few weeks after the Kyoto Animation tragedy. 40-year-old Kenichi Hiratsuka was arrested for death threats against Square Enix stating a possible “repeat of Kyoto Animation.” This is the second major death threat to Square Enix this year, after an incident back in March when a man was distraught over how much money he spent in a game. These threats come right off the heels of the tragic Kyoto Animation arson....

Today brings the first eight tracks of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe’s Booster Course Pass - but already fans think they have seen what’s coming next. The Booster Course Pass contains a total of 48 tracks, split into six dollops of eight courses to be released from now until late 2023. A datamined image said to be from the game has set fan tongues wagging - as it appears to show thumbnails of future Booster Course Pass additions....
