Lego and Nintendo have announced that they’ll be launching three new Lego Super Mario sets based on Luigi’s Mansion. There’ll be three new sets based on the spooky spin-off series. These include the Luigi’s Mansion Lab and Poltergust Expansion Set, Luigi’s Mansion Entryway Expansion Set and the Luigi’s Mansion Haunt-and-Seek Expansion Set. Of course, these sets include characters like King Boo, Polterpup, Professor E. Gadd and more. Naturally, you’ll be able to use the Lego Luigi figure released earlier this year with the new courses....

UPDATE 10/3/22: Yesterday’s leaked Lego Peach electronic toy and the Princess Peach’s Castle set have now been officially unveiled by Lego and given a 1st August release date. Lego Peach has her own Starter Course, just like Mario and Luigi, which features Lemmy and a Lava Bubble. Princess Peach’s Castle, meanwhile, includes Toadette and Ludwig, plus a throne room room where you can reveal Bowser. (Still, it’s a shame this wasn’t a full minifigure-scale set....

Last month at the Sony PlayStation 5 event, Octodad: Dadliest Catch developer Young Horses revealed its next title—Bugsnax. It’s a whimsical, narrative-driven adventure set on the mysterious and somewhat bizarre Snaktooth Island. But the thing that stood out about Bugsnax the most was its catchy theme tune. If you still can’t get the song out of your head, then you’ll be pleased to know that indie-pop group Kero Kero Bonito has released “It’s Bugsnax” as a vinyl record and made it available on numerous digital streaming platforms....

Lost Ark’s big July update has arrived, bringing with it, among other things, the new Arcanist advanced mage class, who gets things done by tossing magic cards about the place. Alongside the Arcanist, July’s update (officially titled Spells in Spades) introduces a new ultra-tough Inferno difficulty version of the Valtan Legion raid - which requires item level 1445 to participate in - plus tougher Challenge Abyssal Dungeons. This twist on standard Abyssal Dungeons is a weekly activity that, like the updated Valtan Legion raid, will feature its own increased rewards for players able to overcome its challenges....

It’s hard not to respect a game that possesses as much ambition and wide a scope as Lost Eidolons. Topped with fluid strategy RPG-style gameplay, the Lost Eidolons is a worthy entry in the wide array of SRPGs. The game came and went with a small splash, but it deserves some more hurrah for a well-executed effort from the new Ocean Drive Studios. The 2019 Nintendo Switch lineup now has another concrete release date for a major title, as Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order will be released on July 19th. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order was announced at the 2018 Game Awards, where it was revealed that it was being developed by Team Ninja and would be exclusive to the Nintendo Switch. As the title suggests, the main foes of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order are Thanos and his soldiers, with the story sharing elements with Avengers: Infinity War, except that the X-Men are able to take part....

Fan-favourite character Liara T’soni - already confirmed as returning in this sequel - can be heard conversing with a geth, whose machine-like noises are instantly recognisable. Liara’s speech - portrayed as ever by Ali Hillis - was decoded by Soundcloud user Mosaic Horse. BioWare has since provided its own cleaned-up version: “I can see it… How did we miss this?” Liara can be heard saying. “Exactly, the Council will be furious… although they should know by now not to underestimate human defiance....

Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker, the final film in the Star Wars Skywalker saga, is now out and has received a variety of responses, many being in the negative. While there are neat action bits and solid performances, it’s often derivative and isn’t entirely narratively engaging. It also adds things to the Star Wars lore that are noticeably extraneous. But, the situation could be amended by more Star Wars video game installments - such as the most recent entry into the franchise, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order....

MercurySteam has announced its next game, Raiders of the Broken Planet. Due for release later this year on PS4, Xbox One and PC, Raiders of the Broken Planet is described by the developer as an “epic multiplayer online asymmetric adventure” that lets players team up with others to battle invaders, or work with the invaders to fight against other players. The game’s story will be delivered digitally via a series of episodes, the developer says, “with each part selling at an extremely low and attractive price point”....

At E3 we were shown the MGS5 Phantom Pain “A Hero’s Way” mission using one type of gameplay approach, but Konami and Hideo Kojima are keen to highlight the fact that there are many other ways to complete missions, too. Microsoft has backtracked on some of the wording in its recent response to the United States government’s Federal Trade Commission (hereon referred to as the FTC). In December, Microsoft claimed the FTC’s lawsuit against its Activision Blizzard buyout was unconstitutional, and specifically violated the Fifth Amendment. However, the company has now gone back on this argument, admitting it “should have dropped these defences before we filed”. “The FTC has an important mission to protect competition and consumers, and we quickly updated our response to omit language suggesting otherwise based on the constitution,” Microsoft public affairs spokesperson David Cuddy said in a statement to Axios....

Today Microsoft and third-party developers had interesting news to share about Microsoft Flight Simulator and its add-ons. We start with the Xbox (and XboxCloud Gaming) version of Microsoft Flight Simulator, which has been updated to version 1.25.12.0 to address crashes on startup introduced with the latest sim update. Those who still experience the crashes are invited to try the workaround described here. This version will not be deployed to the PC version....

Third-party developers provided new assets about upcoming Microsoft Flight Simulator add-ons, on top of new releases. We start with DC Designs, which provided a brand new video of the AV-8B Harrier II. This time around we get to see vertical take-offs and landings, which are the bread and butter of the aicraft. Next, Drzewiecki Design released new work-in-progress screenshots of the upcoming Newark Liberty International Airport (KEWR) in the United States....

Today Microsoft released another of its major World Updates for Microsoft Flight Simulator, focusing on Australia. The update requires three separate downloads on PC (and of course, it’s also available on Xbox). A small 500 MB update on the Windows Store or Steam is the first step, followed by a 1.88 GB update within the sim. Lastly, to get all the goodies, you’ll need an optional download from the in-sim marketplace which weighs 2....

It’s time to face the facts: single player role-playing experiences without online functionality are a dying breed. Bethesda Softworks, the deliverers of the “Horse Armor” that started a DLC revolution, knows this better than most. After all, they’re one of the few companies still producing successful standalone single-player RPG titles, i.e. Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas. Over the past year though, evidence has leaked showing that Bethesda is preparing for a shift in paradigm… an MMO is in development....
