Retro game specialists Digital Eclipse has confirmed its looking to enter discussions with Capcom and Disney about giving Marvel vs. Capcom 2 the remaster treatment. The head of the studio behind the Blizzard Arcade Collection and Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection was speaking to GamerHubTV (as spotted by Video Games Chronicle). Mike Mika stated that the studio had recently raised over $10 million USD in an investment pitch, and asked investors which properties they’d like to see return....

Speaking in the latest issue of Official PlayStation Magazine (via PSU), Konami’s Yuji Korekado confirmed that controversial zombie killer Metal Gear Survive won’t feature loot boxes. And, while the game is an always online affair and does feature microtransactions, they won’t be the pay-to-win variety. ‘There will be no loot boxes, and there will be no pay-to-win microtransactions, there will be things like accessories in Metal Gear Online Forward Operating Base in MGSV: The Phantom Pain,’ said Korekado-san....

If you’ve been paying attention to the Epic Games Store this week, you’ll know by now that it’s giving away a new free game every 24 hours until we hit the new year. Today is the sixth day of the “15 days of free games in December” event or whatever the Epic Games Store is calling it. Today’s free offering is Metro: 2033, and that’s the Redux version which includes updated graphics and other improvements to the gameplay systems....

Metroid Dread now offers three boss rush modes, thanks to today’s free game update. You’ll gain access to the first after completing the main game’s story. The standard Boss Rush lets you fight 12 bosses one after the other, with damage from each carried over to the next. Weapons are fully restored, however. Your aim here (apart from at the boss’ weakpoints!) is to down each boss as quick as possible....

Today third-party developers had a couple of interesting reveals and a release to share for Microsoft Flight Simulator add-ons. We start with DC-Designs, which provided a tease of its upcoming AV-8B Harrier II. No details were provided, but we’re likely to start seeing more soon. Third-party developers shared interesting news today about upcoming add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator, and released a new airport. We start with Blue Bird Simulation, providing a new look at the flight deck of its Boeing 757. While this is work-in-progress, the textures are in 8k resolution. Next comes SimWorks Studios, which provided new images and a development update of the Van’s Aircraft RV-10 and de Havilland Canada Dash 7. A new announcement comes from SamScene3D, which revealed a new landmark scenery package coming this month, “Israel Scenic World” including Jerusalem and Tel Aviv....

We start with a new trailer of Mataveri International Airport (SCIP) on Easter Island by WTFlightSim and SoFly, providing a good look at what we can expect from the scenery when it launches on July 29. Microsoft has continued its aggressive acquisition of major game studios today in a potentially industry-shifting merger with Activision-Blizzard, the major publisher behind DOTA 2, Overwatch, Call of Duty, and many more. The deal was earlier today reported as being worth around $70 billion, making it by far the largest acquisition in the games industry to date. Xbox CEO Phil Spencer confirmed the acquisition with a message that reads: Activision-Blizzard has been in somewhat of a crisis following allegations of sexual misconduct and a subsequent lawsuit against the company’s leadership last year, which has seen key members of the team resign....

Two new champions were crowned on the show, including another confusing main event where Johnny Impact defeated Brian Cage, but the live crowd didn’t seem too thrilled with the result. (1) Rich Swann def. Jake Crist, Ethan Page, Trey Miguel to win the X-Division Championship Of course, they opened the show with the flippy spotfest match! That’s Impact’s M.O. and has been for a number of years, going all the way back to the TNA days, so it’s appropriate to open with the X Division on a “homecoming” themed show....

Interstellar has completed its journey through the heart of pop culture, and with that landing comes the inevitable fallout of all Christopher Nolan films. What did it mean? Revealed at the end of last month, the forthcoming stat-tracking subscription service Call of Duty: Elite will head into beta next month. This isn’t, however, the open beta that Activision stated “over one million” gamers signed up for since last week. The invitation-only beta will kick off July 14th, and will run a limited set of features while tied to Call of Duty: Black Ops so players can get “a taste of the [Elite] experience....

With the release of the new The Witcher 3 Next Gen update, many fans are wondering if some of the new content will also be available on last gen and less powerful consoles, such as the Nintendo Switch. Lionel Messi will be joined by Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson on the UK cover of FIFA 16, EA has announced. Henderson managed to fend off Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero, Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois and Spurs’ Harry Kane in EA’s user vote to be named this year’s co-cover athlete. The box art also confirms that Ultimate Team Legends will once again be exclusive to Xbox platforms. FIFA 16 launches September 25 on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC – pre-order now....

Fox’s Marvel efforts haven’t always been terrific. The studio’s two Deadpool movies were pretty well received, but the X-Men franchise was wildly inconsistent following Bryan Singer’s first two films. X-Men: The Last Stand and X-Men Origins: Wolverine were arguably low points, as were X-Men: Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix, while Josh Boone’s The New Mutants is still idling on a shelf somewhere, gathering dust. Days Of Future Past and Logan still stand out amongst Fox’s most recent Marvel offerings before it was acquired by Disney – and who knows what Kevin Feige et al have planned for those properties in the future?...
