Halo music composer Marty O’Donnell has said his lawsuit against Microsoft over unpaid royalties has now been “amicably resolved”. Eurogamer revealed details of the legal action from O’Donnell and fellow composer Mike Salvatori back in February, in which the pair claim they are owed credit and compensation for Microsoft’s continued use of Halo music over the past two decades. An upcoming court date had been set - something this new development sounds like it will now avoid....

Maybe it’s the developer’s and publisher’s love for gamers - Valentine’s Day is just around the corner - or maybe they realized how well EA’s big iOS sale went and now they want in. Today Spike Chunsoft re-revealed the mystery adventure game Master Detective Archives: Rain Code. The game (which was originally announced last year) comes with clear Danganronpa vibes, which certainly isn’t surprising considering that the scenario was written by Kazutaka Kodaka while the character design is by Rui Komatsuzaki. The music is also composed by Danganrompa maestro Masafumi Takada. We learn that the game will be released in the spring of 2023 for Nintendo Switch....

1C Entertainment and Best Way have announced WW2 real time strategy sequel Men of War II coming to PC next year. This sequel promises new units, locations, campaigns and game-modes compared to the 2009 original. Naturally, there’ll also be plenty of new features, including a new Front Line mechanic that will show the push and pull of skirmishes. Elsewhere, a Direct Vision feature will allow commanders to focus on one unit specifically for tactical manoeuvres....

Cool, measured, melancholy and stylish, Michael Mann‘s Heat was a box office hit in 1995, and 18 years on, its impact can still be felt. A story about two weary men on either side of the law – one a cop married to his profession, the other a career criminal with no intention of going straight – Heat is also a movie about Los Angeles, in all its sparkly opulence and grimy malaise....

Today third-party developers had a lot of news to share about upcoming and released add-ons for Microsoft Flight Simulator. We start with the BAE 146, which received an impressive video featuring mostly the soundscape that we can expect when the aircraft is released by Just Flight. Of course, the video is also full of eye candy, so it’s not just about audio. Next is DC Designs with the Concorde (which is coming on March 30), which gets another video focusing on the audio and a development update with screenshots....

Over in Japan right about now the Makuhari Messe is thrumming, its halls filled with the hushed excitement of a Tokyo Game Show that’s approaching full swing after three years on the lowdown. It’s an odd feeling seeing it all unfurl from afar - one of the great privileges of my job in pre-pandemic years was attending the show for Eurogamer, and being on the ground in Japan as it celebrates its gaming industry really was every bit as wonderful as you’d imagine....

There’s A LOT of VR at PAX West this year. But the one that rustled the most jimmies for us has got to be Insomniac’s open world shooter Stormland. It didn’t necessarily cause anyone to stand up and announce “VR IS HERE NOW!” but it did provide a consistent stream of thrills and fresh ideas that proves VR is at least headed in the right direction. Stormland takes place in a robot-filled world high above the clouds in a place called the “cloudscape”....

Following Apple’s announcement on September 7th, 2022, iPhone loyalists can expect to get their hands on the latest model in all its glory starting September 16th. The new smartphone will debut alongside the Apple Watch 8, the AirPods Pro 2, and a new iOS. Of course, we won’t truly know what the iPhone 14 is like until we get our hands on it....

Trails and Ys series developer Nihon Falcom announced a revision to its financial results forecast, indicating an increase compared to the previous predictions. The developer now expects its net sales for the fiscal year ending on September 30 to be 2,480 million yen instead of 2,400 million yen. Operating profit is expected to be 1,480 million yen instead of 1,200 million yen. According to the company, pre-orders for the latest game of the Trails series The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki II – Crimson Sin are solid and sales of English-localized games in North America and Europe and Chinese/Korean-localized games for the Asian market are strong....

Yakuza studio boss Toshihiro Nagoshi has revealed that the upcoming Judge Eyes will not feature any characters from Sega’s popular gangster-’em-up franchise. Speaking with IGN, Nagoshi-san revealed that while his studio’s new game is based in the same fictional Tokyo district as Yakuza, he wanted it to be an entirely fresh experience separate from Kazuma Kiryu’s adventures in Kamurocho. ‘Project Judge’s location and assets might be the same, but the gameplay and story here are drastically different,’ said Nagoshi....

Killing Floor 2 is still getting updates four years after launch, and developer Tripwire Interactive doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon. A cornerstone of the team’s updates has been its seasonal map additions, and 2020 is no different. This time, the developer is bringing the Hellmark Station map to Killing Floor 2, and it’s new level based on London’s King’s Cross train station. The initial idea for Hellmark Station was born out of the popularity of West London, one of the original Killing Floor‘s maps....

Nintendo has surprise-launched a new Kirby game on the Nintendo Switch in the form of brawler Kirby Fighters 2. The game is a side-on brawler, not unlike Super Smash Bros Ultimate only this time starring exclusively Kirby and his friends as they battle it out to be the last Kirby standing. You’ll be able to pick from a range of Kirby’s “Copy Abilities” which gives your fighter different attacks and looks, such as the Sword that gives Kirby a distinctly “Link from The Legend of Zelda” appearance....

Today, EA Sports has just unveiled both of the cover athletes that are set to grace the front of the upcoming Ultimate Editions of FIFA 23. The reveal makes history, as it features the first woman ever to grace the cover of the game in the franchise history.
