Aye, Disney is moving ahead with a Pirates of the Caribbean reboot, and Margot Robbie has signed on to lead an all-new seafaring adventure for the franchise. Further she is also reteaming with screenwriter Christina Hodson on the project after Hodson wrote Robbie’s Harley Quinn spinoff movie, Birds of Prey. The news, which was announced via THR Friday afternoon, reveals that the film is not intended to be spinoff of the previous Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, which lasted for five movies over 14 years, but rather a “wholly original story with new characters under the Pirate moniker, itself inspired by the long-running attraction at Disneyland....

Mario, Luigi and Toad have all appeared as Rabbids in a new promotional video for Ubisoft. As spotted by NeoGAF, the Nintendo characters are positioned prominently in a video celebrating Ubisoft’s 30th anniversary, although there’s no official explanation as to why. It does, however, seem likely to be linked to a rumour claiming that Ubisoft is developing a Mario/Rabbids RPG crossover for Nintendo Switch. Earlier this month, Let’s Play Video Games reported that a “new Ubisoft-developed turn based RPG” currently under the codename “Mario RPG: Invasion of the Rabbids” is due to release alongside Nintendo Switch in March....

Reports are coming in pertaining to a huge illegal gambling scandal in Korea’s StarCraft leagues. A group of current and former professional StarCraft players are being accused of match-rigging and illegal betting, after evidence has been released of them having contact with illegal gambling organizations. There are also accusations against coaching staff, a league reporter and announcer, and even league directors. Illegal gambling has grown around Korean StarCraft leagues since around 2006, but grew especially large in 2008, which is when the betting organizations are reported to have begun contacting players about rigging....

Ubisoft has announced that the third season of its arena-based hack and slash fighting game, For Honor, Grudge and Glory, will be available from today. Grudge and Glory is the largest update to For Honor so far and brings two additional heroes, two extra maps, ranked play modes, customisation items and gameplay updates. Maps and ranked play will be unlocked for everyone at the outset of season three. Season pass holders will gain immediate access to the two new heroes, the Gladiator and the Highlander, before they become available to all players from August 22 for 15,000 of the in-game currency steel....

Ubisoft has officially announced Zombi, a PS4, Xbox One and PC port of 2012 Wii U horror ZombiU due to arrive digitally on August 18.
