Hi, hello and how do you do? For the first time in a short while we’ve a small favour to ask, with a new edition of the Eurogamer reader survey helping us get a picture of who our audience are and what they’re into. It’s a fairly unobtrusive thing, and I just rattled through it in around 10 minutes (maybe we can speedrun it and post our top scores? The producer of SSX Tricky has contemplated what it would take to get the classic snowboarding game remastered, but also revealed the decision is not his to make. Remasters and remakes are the order of the day in the video game world. The remastered Crash Bandicoot trilogy was so successful that Activision quickly followed up with a remastered Crash Team Racing. The original Spyro trilogy has been dragged into the present day, and a completely remade version of Final Fantasy VII will be released later this year....

Reports have finally confirmed that Kingdom Hearts and Code Geass voice actor Yû Shimaka has passed away at the age of 70. Though many fans know him for his work in both Kingdom Heats and Code Geass, Shimaka’s career has been filled with amazing work. Shimaka started his voice acting career in 1983 as the voice for Stinger Bear in the television series Mirai Keisatsu Urashiman. From there, he would secure roles in shows like Mobile Suit Gundam Wing and Cowboy Bebop....

Electronic Arts revealed its plans for Season 2 of the dodgeball game Knockout City at today’s EA Play livestream event. You might have missed it with all the big news about huge titles like Dead Space, Battlefield, and Apex Legends. But the arcade-style, team-based dodgeball game has been chugging along very well since its debut in May. Knockout City Season 2 keeps the hype train going by taking a trip to the movies....

A Transformers live action attraction set within a custom-built 4,500 seat theatre is to launch next year in China, DMG Entertainment has announced. Expected to be located near Beijing, the theatre will host a live show featuring the shape-shifting robots, aerial stunts and large-scale special effects. “Transformers Live will be a cross between an action-adventure spectacle, a theme park attraction and a theatrical show. Fans will experience intense action, beautiful visual moments, an emotionally engaging story, lots of humour and rousing music,” said Michael Cohl of S2BN Entertainment....

Mafia 3 may have been a critical disappointment, but it appears the game has performed extremely well for publisher 2K. Reporting strong Q2 2017 financial results, Take-Two revealed that Mafia 3 set a new record for 2K. “Developed by Hangar 13, Mafia III is the fastest-selling game in 2K’s history, generating week one sell-in of more than 4.5 million units,” revealed the publisher. Of course sold in means shipped to retailers, meaning we don’t know how many consumers actually bought a copy....

Get ready to get spooked because Supermassive Games, the brains behind the horror hit Until Dawn, will be bringing their craft for multiple platforms. The developer has just announced that they will be working alongside Bandai Namco to bring The Dark Pictures anthology — a series of games promoting a unique narrative style and branching storyline choices that would determine who lives and who dies. The first game that will be part of The Dark Pictures series is Man of Medan which will also be on PC....

Ike Perlmutter, the Chairman of Marvel Entertainment, has spent much of Donald Trump’s tenure as President advising the Department of Veteran’s Affairs in an informal role. And in that time, his willingness to use the agency to promote Marvel Comics raised alarms with career staff within the VA, according to a new report by the non-partisan Government Accountability Office. This report comes after Perlmutter claimed to ProPublica that he had never personally benefited from his role with the VA....

2K and Firaxis Games have shown off the first gameplay of tactical action RPG Marvel’s Midnight Suns following the game’s reveal last week. The story was covered in the game’s official reveal, so check back there for a recap. Combat, then, appears to be a turn based affair. Battles will see you take three heroes into combat, each with their own abilities and powers represented by cards. These cards can be arranged and customised to suit your playstyle, while your positioning on the battlefield lets you use your environment for a tactical advantage....

The Dragon Ball FighterZ Show just took place today with a lot of new information on the National Championship. While showing the game roadmap for the rest of the year, a Master Roshi FighterZ slide accidentally revealed him as the next DLC character, roughly half an hour before the trailer went live. We already knew Roshi was a strong contender for the next DLC character due to some win quotes found on the disc a few months back....

Third-party developers have announced a major new aircraft family and shared new assets for Microsoft Flight Simulator. We start with Just Flight, which announced that it will release the Fokker 100 and Fokker 70 following the older Fokker F28 Fellowship. Microsoft has announced that Microsoft Flight Simulator on PC’s VR update is now available, allowing those with compatible VR headsets the ability to take flight in virtual reality. As per the post on the Xbox Wire and a development video, the team at Holoforge —the department of developers Asobo Studio who were responsible for the VR—used community feedback when producing the update in order to offer simmers the “deepest and most immersive virtual flight experience yet....

The next generation of console war will kick off later this year via the releases of the Microsoft’s Xbox Series X and Sony’s PlayStation 5. As we hurtle ever closer to those undetermined release dates, more information will be revealed about the two consoles so that consumers can make an informed decision regarding which one they want to buy. As of right now, though, information on either is hard to come by....
