It took over three hours, and a historic eight maps, but the London Spitfire finally toppled the hopeful Shanghai Dragons to claim the first play-in slot in the Overwatch League’s 2019 Playoffs. It was shocking to London and their fans that they were even in this position. They had played alright during the season, maybe taking a little dip in Stages 3 and 4, losing some matches they shouldn’t have. The Inaugural Season Champions would oddly struggle against lower tier teams, eventually falling from their place in the top six, losing their buy week and automatic playoff spot to the Atlanta Reign....

Loop Hero is the latest talk in the gaming world. This nostalgic ARPG from Four Quarters is rising in steam sales and other game clients like GeForce now. The main attraction and what sets it apart is that of the automated playing system. Here the only thing you do is place cards along the path where the Hero loops around to fight the enemies. More the enemies you kill more the number of gears and pieces of equipment you gather....

A list of changes made to the PlayStation version of Martha is Dead has now been detailed. Earlier this month, it was announced the game would be censored on Sony platforms - while the historical horror game’s PC and Xbox versions would remain intact. IGN has now detailed the numerous cuts, and discussed them with Martha is Dead’s developer and publisher, who confirmed they came at Sony’s request. PlayStation, meanwhile, declined to comment....

Marvel’s Avengers second major story DLC Operation Hawkeye: Future Imperfect will land alongside the previously delayed next-gen versions of the game on March 18, Square Enix has announced. The operation brings the second new playable superhero to the game in the form of original Hawkeye Clint Barton and include a new story chapter featuring the hero going up against Maestro; an alternate-timeline version of Hulk with Bruce’s brains and Hulk’s strength driven mad in a post-apocalyptic future....

Mass Effect 2 is a tale about Commander Shepard and his crew recruiting the best warriors around to take the fight to the mysterious Collectors who are abducting human colonies. They’ll look good while doing it too, as the game has a range of outfits for Shepard and his squad to save the day in style. However, not every attire is a winner as some of the clothing in the game is subpar at best....

We’ve finally learned more about the Medal of Honor reboot, thanks to EA’s press conference today at E3. Sean Decker, producer of the title, unveiled a live 24-person multiplayer demonstration. The demo was running off of the PS3 version of the game, set in a multiplayer map called Kabul City Ruins in team deathmatch mode. 1UP reported that the multiplayer felt very Battlefield: Bad Company 2 - thanks to DICE who have been working on the multiplayer side of the upcoming title, especially with players being awarded ribbons and experience as they achieve in-game accomplishments....

Of all the games revealed during E3 this year, Metal Slug Tactics was one of my favorite surprises. As a Metal Slug fan, it was exciting to see my boy Tarma and his crew getting ready to roll out for another adventure. Despite my general aversion to tactics games, I still wanted to see and hear more. Today, that desire was fulfilled, as Metal Slug Tactics got a new gameplay trailer and a release window for early 2022....

Metro Exodus, the third entry in the Metro series, was one of the earliest hits of 2019 and has one more piece of story content to go before developer 4A Games bookends the expansions for Metro Exodus. Specifically, the game will be receiving its last bit of narrative-focused content in February, as implied by the expansion pass’ page on the Epic Games Store. Called Sam’s Story, the final DLC tells the story of an American marine who was stationed at a Russian embassy before the bombs dropped....

4A Games’ Metro Redux was confirmed for a February 28 release on the Nintendo Switch through a pair of 50-second teaser trailers released today. The trailers are ostensibly identical minus an R 18+ rating at the beginning of the video cut for Australia which is absent in the PEGI (European) version. They feature a fly-through of various locales and hazards present in the subway tunnels of Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light, the two post-apocalyptic survival horror titles remade in HD for the Redux collection, ending in a snowy outside world that further zooms out to show the footage running on a Switch....

Microsoft Flight Simulator is barely a quarter of a year old at this point, yet the sim has proven to be a massive disturbance to the industry this year. Just before and right after release, Microsoft made sure to beam this new sim everywhere — and it worked, having pulled off a very successful launch. However, a noticeable amount of members of the flight sim community are not too happy with the current state of the new MSFS....

Today both Microsoft and third-party developers had news to share about Microsoft Flight Simulator and its add-ons. First of all, Microsoft released a new build (1.29.25.0) of the beta of Sim Update 11, which is still scheduled, rather appropriately, for November 11 (11/11, get it?) alongside the 40th-anniversary edition.  When it was first announced that one of the next iterations of the Call of Duty franchise (most likely Modern Warfare 3), would feature Ghost from Modern Warfare 2, many passed it off as another rumor regarding the franchise’s uncertain future. As it turns out, thanks to an article from UK’s Official PlayStation Magazine, that Call of Duty title might actually be in development. Furthermore, the magazine claims that this next title will be developed by none other than the new version of Infinity Ward....

Song of the Deep, a Metroidvania adventure set in the depths of the ocean, will launch digitally on PS4, Xbox One and Steam on July 12, Insomniac has announced. In the game you play a young girl searching for her father, piloting a submarine or free-diving through a beautiful and deadly undersea world filled with action and puzzles. There’s the promise of deep progression of abilities and upgrades, which will need to be mastered in order to survive....

Just in time for its first anniversary, Focus Home Interactive is giving players the chance to jump into Insurgency: Sandstorm on the house. The company confirmed that New World Interactive’s intense shooter is free to play between now and Dec. 17. Those that are interested can download the game and enjoy at this link. Ion Fury is a throwback first-person shooter that mimics 90s games like Duke Nukem 3D, and it has earned a decent amount of praise since its recent launch on PC. However, the game has found itself the center of controversy following the discovery of potentially offensive jokes found in-game as well as comments by some of its developers on Discord. The 3D Realms-published Ion Fury has been accused of using homophobic language for jokes in-game....

Atlus’ critically acclaimed high school-drama-monster-slaying sequel Persona 5 has drummed up 2.2 million copies shipped worldwide, Sega’s latest financial results have confirmed. Persona 5 originally hit Japanese stores back in 2016 following a series of delays, and eventually turned up in the US and Europe last April. The JRPG got off to a great start, having flogged 1.5 million copies just as it hit western shores and moving two million by November last year....
