Last March, Assassin’s Creed co-creator Jade Raymond unveiled Haven Entertainment Studios, a new independent developer that would be creating a brand-new IP for PlayStation - and now, just under a year later, early details on the project have emerged, calling it a “persistent and evolving online” game for PlayStation 5 and PC. That’s according to Montreal-based French-language publication Le Devoir (via Google Translate), which sheds a little more light on Haven’s ambitions - with accompanying quotes from Raymond and fellow co-founders - as part of a short profile piece on the studio....

The CEO of development studio Pocketpair gave the entire team the day off yesterday so that they could play Elden Ring. According to a tweet from the company’s official Twitter account, CEO Takruo Mizobe offered the paid “Elden Holiday” leave in recognition that staff will be “unable to focus on work” on the day From Software’s latest saga is released. Though not officially classed as a day off, staff also don’t have to come into the office on Monday, either, so they can play into the late hours of Monday morning, too (thanks, Automaton Media)....
Today, SEGA silently released Judgment and Lost Judgment on PC. The news comes via a tweet showing that both of the titles can be purchased via Steam, with a tagline stating that you’ll also get the Kaito Files story DLC for free with The Judgment Collection bundle. Square Enix has released a new Kingdom Hearts 3 trailer focusing on the Tangled-inspired world of Corona. Fresh from Lucca 2018, the footage comes with a message from director Tetsuya Nomura on Twitter, who confirmed that development on the highly anticipated Disney-RPG is coming to an end. Not surprising really, as it’s out in January, so that’s good to know. Kingdom Hearts 3 is scheduled for release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on January 29, 2019....
The earthquakes experienced in Kumamoto, Japan earlier this month could have an impact on Sony’s video game business, the company has warned, with components potentially suffering a delay due to the ongoing suspension of manufacturing operations in the Kumamoto region. In a note posted earlier today, Sony warned that the disruption at its Kumamoto Technology Center and the “potential disruption to the supply of components to Sony from certain third-party suppliers” that also have manufacturing facilities in the Kumamoto region meant that it is “possible that business operations within [Sony’s] Mobile Communications, Game & Network Services and Home Entertainment & Sound segments also may be affected”....

It seems Hangar 13 can’t catch a break, following confirmation of a new round of layoffs at the Mafia studio. According to Kotaku, the development outfit has had to dismiss a number of staff across its three global locations. This includes 50 members of the 87-person team based in their main headquarters of Novato California. The news comes just weeks following the departure of former studio head Haden Blackman. It was Blackman’s successor, Nick Baynes, who informed the staff in a meeting from his Brighton, UK location....
