Kazuhisa Hashimoto, the creator of the Konami Code, has passed away at the age of 79. The news was shared by composer Yuji Takenouchi who stated on Twitter that Hashimoto had passed away. There is no word at this time regarding his cause of death. We’d like to share our deepest condolences with Hashimoto’s family, friends, and all who knew him. We hope they find the strength to make it through this difficult time....
Konami has announced plans to change its trade name later this year – but it’s nothing to get too worked up about. From October 1, 2015, Konami Corporation will be renamed Konami Holdings Corporation, with the company hoping the change will help “promote a clear understanding of its position among stakeholders”. “Ever since the Company shifted to a pure holding company structure on March 31, 2006, the Company has managed the operation of four primary businesses – Digital Entertainment, Health & Fitness, Gaming & Systems, and Pachislot & Pachinko Machines – at its group companies engaged in the aforementioned businesses,” Konami said in a notice posted on its website....
The latest trailer for Agents of Mayhem, an upcoming action-adventure set in the Saints Row universe, goes full Knight Rider and shows of high powered cars with on board AI. This is accompanied by a voice over from David ‘The ‘Don’t Hassle the Hoff’ Hoff’ Hasselhoff. Given the extremely 80s action vibe of literally every other trailer for Agents of Mayhem, this move seemed inevitable. Agents of Mayhem is out on August 18 for Xbox One, PC and PS4....

Machinima, a gaming staple of the 2000s, is shutting down and laying off 81 employees. The move was confirmed late Friday, and comes in the wake of Machinima being folded into Warner’s Otter Media. Paradox’s free-to-play title Magicka: Wizard Wars will be permanently going offline in summer. A post on the game’s forums, ominously titled “An Important Update” (the “We Need to Talk” of videogame updates) says the servers will be going down on 21 July. It looks like Microsoft is considering introducing cheaper, ad-supported tiers of its Xbox Game Pass. That’s according to a survey Microsoft recently circulated to players, inviting views about the current Xbox Game Pass subscription and querying if we’d be willing to accept adverts if the subscription payment was lower. Polarity-switching shoot-’em-up Ikaruga looks set to make the jump to the PlayStation 4, if a listing on Germany’s ratings board is anything to go by. The critically acclaimed title was originally released in arcades back in 2001, and was later ported to the Dreamcast, GameCube, PC, and Xbox 360.
